Small jobs welcome

"Barry is a legendary professional. He can solve even the most puzzling electrical wiring mysteries. Also, he is very respectful of the home and always uses booties on his shoes and cleans up after he’s done working. Definitely one of the most solid vendors I’ve worked with during my two years of hiring vendors for Aiken remodels."

"Jeff spoke with me in the morning after I requested service the previous evening (late). Told him about our dryer, not heating. He requested a text photo of the model number/SN on the sticker inside the dryer. I contacted him the following morning via text, he texted back that he had the repair part and would be at my home within the hour. He arrived and work was completed within 30 minutes----new heating element installed. I have never had a major appliance issue addressed so QUICKLY. Super impressed with Ace."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Yes, hot tubs can use a significant amount of electricity, primarily to keep the water heated. A typical hot tub uses between 1,500 and 6,000 watts, and the pump can add another 1,500 watts. This usage can result in a monthly cost of around $20 to $30. The exact amount of electricity consumed depends on several factors, including the hot tub's age, size, heater voltage (120V vs. 240V), usage habits, and thermostat setting. Newer, energy-efficient models generally use less power than older ones. To reduce electricity costs, consider investing in an energy-efficient model, using a quality insulated cover with a thermal blanket, and keeping the filters clean.

Labor, materials, job complexity, and urgency affect costs for switches and outlets; expect from $150 for simple sets to $600+ for significant upgrades.

Simple moves on the same base or within a few feet will not take long, roughly three to four hours. Larger moves onto a new wall or transitioning a box from inside to outside will take 8 to 12 hours to complete. Ask your electrician for a time estimate prior to installation.

Choosing a unit with higher BTUs can use more electricity if the BTUs are more than what’s necessary for your room size. However, choosing an AC with BTUs that match the size of your room or house, your unit will cool your space efficiently. On the flip side, choosing a system with not enough BTUs can cause the system to work harder to try to cool the space, leading to more electricity consumption and higher energy bills.

The major difference between a GFCI breaker and an AFCI breaker is that a GFCI breaker protects against fatal shocks while an AFCI breaker prevent electrical fires. A GFCI breaker senses when the electrical current to ground is overloaded and trips to prevent major accidents or injuries. AFCI breakers trip when it detects dangerous electrical arcing.
