"Brian Tutt is extremely qualified for all your electrical needs. He showed up on time and called me a week out to confirm and the night before. Very knowledgeable about whole home generators and install. Mr. Tutt installed two more outlets with precision. Great guy. Thanks Brian! He will be my electrical professional for as long as he is in the business!"

"Chris Bundrick with B Electric was great. Did a jam up job putting in some new circuits with outlets/switches, and even found a neutral issue between my structure & the transformer - and got Georgia Power out there the saem day to fix that for me. Definitely will use again."

"They certainly were timely and courteous but they've had to come back twice to troubleshoot their work on our Ethernet cable. We didn't want to run a line from the model to the downstairs computer through 3 rooms so hired them to install it under the crawlspace and install a new outlet. It didn't work the first time so the cable was switched out and we're still back at square one. I will say though, they seem to know what they're doing even if my project isn't going smoothly. They're troubleshooting and trying to figure out the problem step by step. Also I needed a ceiling fan and ceiling light switch and they had it swapped out and fixed in less than an hour. They certainly doesn't know about electricity."

Customers say: Quick response

"Lazenby electric offers quick and timely service. Unlike most contractors they stick to the dates they commit too. Very transparent with estimates and always willing to help if there are further issues. I have recommended them to others needing an electrician and have gotten nothing but good remarks back."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

In Augusta, DIY electrical work may save on upfront costs, but it carries significant risks, including code violations, failed inspections, and potential safety hazards. Licensed electricians are familiar with Augusta's permitting process, local codes, and inspection requirements, ensuring your project is compliant and safe. According to the Georgia State Licensing Board for Residential and General Contractors, hiring a qualified professional is the best way to protect your investment and avoid costly mistakes.

Helpful?

In Augusta, routine electrical maintenance is essential for safety and efficiency. Test GFCI outlets monthly, replace smoke detector batteries each year, and inspect your electrical panel for dust or corrosion every six months. Before peak seasons, check HVAC wiring and ensure outdoor outlets are weather-protected. Following recommendations from the Augusta Fire Department and the National Electrical Code helps extend your system's lifespan and reduces the risk of electrical hazards.

Helpful?

In Augusta, most electrical projects—including new installations, major repairs, or upgrades over $500—require an electrical permit from the Planning and Development Department. Permit applications must include detailed plans, especially for larger projects, and inspections are required at specific stages. Always consult the Augusta Planning and Development Department or the Georgia State Construction Code for current requirements to avoid fines and ensure your project meets all safety standards.

Helpful?

For electrical projects in Augusta, select materials that comply with the National Electrical Code and Augusta's local amendments. Use nonmetallic sheathed cable for most interior wiring, and opt for PVC or galvanized conduit in areas exposed to moisture. Choose high-quality, code-approved junction boxes and circuit breakers. Sourcing supplies from established local electrical distributors helps ensure compliance and access to materials that meet Augusta's specific code requirements.

Helpful?

Homeowners in Augusta often make mistakes like overloading circuits, using improper materials, or failing to secure required permits. Skipping inspections or ignoring warning signs such as flickering lights can lead to fire hazards and code violations. The Augusta Planning and Development Department frequently cites incomplete permit applications and unlicensed work as common issues. Always follow local codes, use approved materials, and consult a licensed electrician for complex projects.
