"We only asked for the front of our house to be painted, and the painter finished quickly and did it well. Instead of leaving and collecting the fixed fee, he offered to paint the sides of our home for free which was unexpected and very appreciated."

"Jose' arrived with Yokasta at 8am. Yokasta is company CEO and Jose's wife, and helper. First, they worked to repair faulty work from a previous contractor. Jose adjusted the two gates and re-attached the latches, so that everything worked smoothly. Next, he attached the house numbers, working carefully to get everything aligned. He also looked at door knobs, but couldn't fix them without replacement, because of poor work from the previous contractor.
He put up a ceiling fan and then replaced a faucet, cleaning up the work space along the way. He had to go to Home Depot to buy new water connections, because the existing ones were too short, doing that during his lunch break.
Last, he worked on the lights in the kitchen, adjusting an overhead breakfast nook light, installing a new track light, and a new over the sink LED light.
Finally, I asked Yokasta to send me a proposal for kitchen renovations later.

"Brian was an outstanding contractor to work with to build our screened-in porch. His work ethic, expertise and professionalism were impeccable. He and his crew showed up at 8 am every morning and didn't leave until 5 pm, without fail. Our only complaint was not with him, but was with his concrete sub-contractor who did a less than stellar job. It is functional, but not very aesthetically pleasing. Brian did his best to make it right and fix it. Overall, we love our porch. I would recommend Carolina Coastal Builders, LLC to anyone and have already recommended him to a friend of mine."

Deck Repair questions, answered by experts

The best direction for a gate to swing depends on its location and purpose, but swinging inward is the general rule. An inward swing is often considered safer, prevents the gate from opening into public spaces like a sidewalk, and may be required by local building codes.

There are exceptions and specific considerations. If your property is on a slope, an inward swing might not be possible. For a deck gate, it's safest to have it swing away from any steps. In a backyard, the direction can be a matter of preference, though an inward swing can be helpful when carrying heavy items like a wheelbarrow into a garden.

Regardless of direction, ensure the gate can open fully without hitting any objects or blocking spaces. While an inward swing is standard, a gate that can swing both in and out offers the most flexibility if your setup allows for it.

Composite decking requires a solid foundation or substructure for support. This base is typically a frame composed of posts, beams, joists, and footings. The frame can be built from various materials, such as composite, plastic, timber, or metal, depending on your budget, deck type, and environmental conditions. For maximum stability, a professional deck builder may recommend installing this frame on top of a solid concrete base. It is best to discuss the most suitable substructure design and materials for your specific project with a professional.

Yes. Composite decking is resistant to moisture and freezing temperatures, so it’s an ideal material to use in particularly cold or damp seasons. You can install this type of decking throughout the year since it does not warp or split in the cold.

A random orbital sander is best for sanding a deck because it is easier to handle than other power sanders and is less likely to damage the wood. Most decks are made of types of softwood, so a gentler sanding process is essential to prevent permanent blemishes. For example, belt sanders can gouge softwoods.

It's okay to walk on a newly painted deck after about four to six hours as long as the weather has been dry. Be sure to wait at least 24 hours before you place any outdoor furniture or grills on a freshly painted deck, though.
