"I had an extremely frustrating experience with East Coast Comfort regarding a split AC/heat system. I first contacted them in July when the AC was not working properly. In October, after speaking with my HOA, I was told the unit was under warranty, which East Coast Comfort confirmed. Technicians came out, but the system only worked briefly before failing again. During the visit, one technician seemed unfamiliar with basic operation of the unit, and another stepped on my bed with dirty shoes, which I found unprofessional. In November, I was told there was a leak and a faulty sensor, but the issue was not fully resolved. Now, its a Christmas, and I am cold in my apartment, and East Coast wants more money for their visit, for something that they never fixed."

To keep your AC unit in good working condition, you should service your AC unit at least once per year. Your HVAC pro will inspect, clean, and replace parts as necessary. No, you don’t need a ductless unit in every room. Ductless AC units don't work the way that window units do, where the air doesn't travel outside that room. The indoor air handlers all attach to the outdoor condenser. While the air doesn't travel the way that traditional ductwork would, the ductless AC units create zones so that one part of the home can be cooler than another. They can spread effectively enough that indoor units only need to be placed in main living areas.

Freon will go in the refrigerant lines near the back of your AC unit. Look for small ports with caps on a thin copper line—the Freon goes into those ports. You are best off hiring a licensed HVAC professional who can complete the job safely and correctly.
