"We had an excellent experience with Plymouth Landscaping! We hired them to complete a deck removal and patio install, with some plantings around the perimeter. Joe and his team were always available to answer questions, and we had a LOT. Our yard is small and sloped and they came up with brilliant solutions in order to utilize the space we were working with. Jose, Arturo and Carlos were super knowledgeable, professional, cleaned up every evening before departing. I would highly recommend Plymouth Landscaping for your backyard projects!"

"Jose and his crew arrived on time, worked hard and did a great job weeding and mulching (15 yards of mulch) our flower beds. As he worked, he made suggestions that created more work for himself at no additional charge. I have recommended him to others and I have hired him to do additional yard work."

Customers say: True professional

"Needed some new landscaping in my back yard. Gave John an idea of what I wanted, he came back with several suggestions and pictures of each, I selected from his suggestions and everything was planted within a couple weeks exactly as I wanted. John is always responsive, helpful and customer focused. Have recommended him to several friends and will continue to use him for my landscape/yard needs."

"Unable to find someone to cut our lawn during this quarantine, since our former lawn person moved away from the area, we searched on-line for lawncutting. HomeAdvisor came up and directed us to Whole Nine. A day was set up for someone to come, and the person did come on that day. That young man , without any assistant and a hand power mower, not a ride-around, had to deal with grass, by then, almost a foot tall. He patiently overlapped his paths, sometimes criss-crossing an area. Then had to clean up huge piles of cut grass. He blew the grass back on to the lawn and dispersed it. The end result was the best we had seen in years. Happy to have this chance to sing the praises of our experience. Oh, and the price was what we had been paying previously."

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

If you are xeriscaping a lawn from scratch, your best bet for preparing the lawn is to work with a xeriscaping specialist in your area. The most common first step to making the transformation, however, will be to remove the turfgrass from your lawn. The subsequent steps will often include amending the soil to support new plants and installing low-drip or drip irrigation systems.

Consulting your local university extension, Audubon society, or municipal urban forestry program are all good ideas when choosing a tree to plant. You can also ask an arborist or a knowledgeable landscaping company for advice on good trees to plant.

Yes, you can landscape in the rain, but you should take some precautions to keep yourself and your tools safe. Avoid using electric landscaping tools during rainfall, and don’t mow, thatch, aerate, or rake in the rain, as your tools can more easily tear out roots in the loose soil. Be careful when working on wet grass, and take your time to avoid slipping. Avoid putting in new plants before a particularly bad storm, as heavy rain and strong winds can damage or uproot plants that aren’t yet established.

Palm trees are relatively easy to grow, especially when planting different varieties in their native habitats. While regular watering is crucial in the first couple of months while the palm develops a strong root ball, palms typically require minimal maintenance once they’re established. You’ll need to prune palm fronds once or twice per year to keep it in tip-top shape.

Plant privet hedges at least 1 foot apart in a trench about 2 feet wide and 2 feet deep. It’s important to space privet hedges relatively far apart due to how quickly they grow to significant sizes and heights. You don’t want to crowd privet plants, or they could overcrowd each other, causing unwanted damage.
