"I have a garage that is partially underground and gets damp, musty and has standing puddles on the floor when it rains.
AJ came out and spent a good amount of time with my contractor and I on the day that he came out to look at the situation in my garage.
He told us several different methods for dealing with the issues. I decided to go with an interior french drain and sump pump as it was less expensive then exterior excavation. He also even told my contractor about a material that we could use on the block walls, DYI instead of hiring his company to completely waterproof the walls to save additional money.
His wife provided us with a clearly written estimate via email after AJ's review of the building. After talking with 2 other companies and getting their estimates I decided to go with AJ  Waterproofing.
We scheduled the work and AJ and his crew showed up on time and worked neatly and diligently to install the french drain, sump pump and also another grated drain that runs along the front of the garage to catch water when I hose down the interior. Every thing that they did was very nicely done - clean straight lines, no dirt or rubble remaining around the job site. At the end they hosed and scrubbed both the floor and even applied an anti-microbial to the walls.

"Excellent. Crew was at my house within an hour of my call. Within 5 hours of waking up to no hot water they had a new water heater installed along with an emergency cutoff valve I requested and had cleaned up all the leaked water."

"I hired them to unclog a toilet. Got a next day appointment. Patrick was helpful and courteous in scheduling and quoting the job. Justin came early and asked questions to understand the problem and what I had already tried to clear the drain. Within 15 minutes he had the drain running. Good service at a good price. I would use them again."

"The company replied quickly and gave an estimate as requested. We were quoted for 2 new shut offs and 3-5 replacement shut offs. The plumber only brought 5 fittings, but he gave me the option to run to Home Depot to get more... I was also instructed to replace a hose which wasn?t leaking until after the repair, but it was easily fixed when I suggested to connect the new hose to the pipe rather than to the leaking hose. Sharkbite valves were installed. If I knew they were going to be used, I would have done the work myself. The plumber was proficient with the Sharkbites, I just expected that a pro plumbing company would solder. When the plumber left, there were no leaks, and I didn?t feel like making an issue of the other 2 valves which I wanted installed."

Storm Drain Installation questions, answered by experts

Homes need solid construction to survive a hurricane, including these parts:

  • A secure foundation at the right elevation for your home’s flood threat level

  • Hurricane straps to secure your home’s foundation

  • Waterproof basement sealant or rubberized sheeting that directs water away from the foundation

  • A strong, well-attached roof that’s firmly secured to the framing

  • Shutters or roll-down window protectors that you can close outside to prevent broken windows

  • A garage door bracing system to keep high winds from caving in or tearing off the door

  • Deadbolts to keep your exterior doors in place against wind pressure and floodwater

There are a few ways to make your storm door less drafty. For example, if the bottom of your storm door is letting in air, you can lower the door sweep so there’s a smaller gap between your door and the floor. You can also install weatherstripping or apply caulk around the door frame.

There are several potential causes of a gap at the top of your storm door. For one, your door may naturally start to sag as your house settles over time. Other possible explanations include loose screws, faulty hinges, damaged weatherstripping, or incorrect installation. The right solution for fixing a gap will depend on the cause.

There's a long list of benefits of adding a storm door to your home, making the minimal cost, difficulty, and time commitment of installation well worth it. It protects your home from rain, wind, and show, improves your energy efficiency, allows you to save money on electric bills, offers great ventilation, and deters break-ins.

The average cost to install a door is around $1,100, but you could pay anywhere from $150 for a hollow-core interior door installation up to $2,000 or a high-end exterior door installation. There are a few cost factors to consider to get an accurate price, including whether your wall opening exists, the type of door, the quality and security of the door, whether you need to replace the frame, and the door size. You can expect to pay $150 to $700 for a standard 36-by-80-inch door and between $400 and $1,600 for an 80-by-48-inch door.
