"We recently had work done by AJ Waterproofing and cannot say enough about their work. From the minute they arrived, AJ was like a maestro conducting his very capable crew to establish a containment area to prevent dust and debri from permeating the rest of the house. Every effort was made to cover furniture, speakers and carpet with plastic. From there, it only got better. AJ and crew made short work of jack hammering the floor, tunneling under the existing paneled wall without disturbing the paneling and trim. This alone saved me a few thousand dollars on repair and replacement. His crew continuous swept and discarded debri to ensure a clean work area.. Without even asking, his guys installed the drains for our furnace condensation line, softener and dehumidifier within the french drain system. The coup de gras was a meticulous cleanup, which included wiping down the floor and walls, making it cleaner than when he started! I highly recommend AJ for all your waterproofing needs. A true pro."

"Had a good experience overall. They had an opening in the schedule so were able to start quickly. Property had some plumbing buried in the floor that the crew had to work around and it was all done without any issues. Crew was professional and easy to work with. Haven't had any water issues since the drain and sump were installed several months ago--despite several big rains."

"Travis went above and beyond to deliver great service. He took pictures of what he saw going on in the crawl space. He patiently and carefully explained those issues to me. He is very knowledgeable. When it’s time to service the dehumidifier next year, I will be sure to ask for him."

"I'm not fully moved into the home yet, but I will update when I am there permanently. The crew was very professional, worked diligently, cleaned up after every day of work (three day job--french drain expansion, two additional sump pumps installed, window drains into the sump pumps, pretty extensive job)."

"I called Brandon's A1 plumbing company on a Thursday evening at 6:00pm. I told him the garbage disposal was clogged with water spilling over the sink. He arrived within 10 minutes. He worked diligently for 2 hours to unclog the disposal. He also found time to reattach a toilet seat. Amazing!!!!"

"We had numerous issues with water in our basement in the 5 years we owned our home, it was not an easy fix and we received numerous ideas and quotes. The rep from Worthington came out and was amazing, did not try and up sell us, and identified and fixed every problem. Worthington was not the cheapest firm we spoke with but would you really want the guy with the lowest price for a job like this? We would recommend this company emphatically."

"Within two days from our initial phone call, we had a quote from Mike.  He answered our questions promptly, by phone and e-mail, and arrived when promised.  He checked with us every step along the way, showing us what they were doing to be sure we were happy with the progress, and ended up completing the job earlier than anticipated. He did extra things which were not included in the quote (topsoil, seeding, sod) to restore the property and refused to take additional money when we offered.  He and the guys were a pleasure to work with, the driveway and concrete work look great, and the drain works!  We would definitely recommend them to neighbors and friends, and look forward to using them for future projects."

Foundation Drain Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can finish a basement that leaks, as long as you address the leak first. Before finishing a basement, you’ll need to repair any cracks in the walls and waterproof the basement to prevent future leaks. It’s much harder to clean up a water leak from a finished basement than an unfinished one, so preemptively addressing any leaking areas prevents expensive repairs in the future.

Almost any kind of home can have a wine cellar or cabinet installed. You’ll need an area where a concrete floor can be put in, along with the necessary insulation, climate control, and ventilation systems. If you think of yourself as an aspiring sommelier, an underground wine cellar may be ideal, but it will cost significantly more.

What you choose to install really depends on your budget and how many bottles you’re looking to store.

There are a few possible sump pump drainage locations, including a neighborhood storm drain, into a creek or pond, or underground. Don’t let your sump pump water go into your sewer or septic system. Ideally, your drainage spot should be on a downhill slope that’s at least 10 to 20 feet away from your home’s foundation. Before choosing a location, check your local codes and regulations.

A sump pump should be placed at least three feet deep in a pit. The rim of the sump pump basin should be level with your basement floor. If you find your pit is too deep, you can fill the bottom with gravel until the rim of the sump pump is flush with the floor.

Ideally, your sump pump discharge should run down a natural downhill slope 10 to 20 feet away from your home’s foundation. However, if your property is naturally flat, that might not be an option. Instead, you may be able to discharge it into a neighborhood storm drain or a nearby creek or pond. If that’s not possible, consider burying it underground.
