"This was the second time we used H L Bowman for our plumbing needs and we have been impressed both times. Their plumbers are prompt, courteous, and friendly, in addition to being great at their craft. For this visit, I had a leak under a kitchen sink and did not realize that I needed to have the entire faucet replaced. The plumber recommended the closest plumbing supply store and waited while I selected the one I wanted. He efficiently did the replacement. Very happy with H L Bowman and would highly recommend them."

"My well pressure tank had been leaking off and on for awhile. Kept a small bucket under the leak. When it was time for a larger bucket I used HA. Don called almost immediately and came by the following morning and had the tank and related plumbing done in no time at all. They even tested my well pump while they were there. Absolute professionals. Courteous and efficient."

"My old bathroom needed to be updated. Calco proposed a very reasonable and attractive plan that I accepted. I am so happy with the finished result. My construction crew were Mickey and Josh. I can’t praise them enough. They are so skilled, so nice, so professional. They addressed every unexpected issue that came up. They did everything - demolition, installment, plumbing, electrical work, painting. They came up with novel solutions to make sure every detail was addressed to our satisfaction. Calco is a company that shows up on time, stays on the job until it’s finished, has top-notch contractors. They made sure to protect the surrounding floors and rooms from any dust and dirt. At the end of the day they cleaned up spotlessly. There are many horror stories out there of remodeling gone wrong. With this company, and especially with Mickey and Josh, you can have complete confidence and guarantee that you will be 100% satisfied. A shoutout to Kristy who is the best contact person. TY!!!!!"

"Sam H, Mike S, Jimmy R were all outstanding in every way in all categories of the installation, from removal of existing bath to the installing of the new tub plumbing and surround. They arrived on time and finished early. They left the house clean of all dust, materials, leaving no sign of any work ever being done anywhere that day."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

Older homes in Bath require supply pipe upgrades to replace deteriorating galvanized steel. High mineral hardness in the regional water supply accelerates sediment buildup, shortening water heater lifespans. During harsh PA winters, exposed pipes and exterior hose bibs demand constant protection to prevent freezing. Additionally, active groundwater pressure requires heavy reliance on sump pumps, making routine plumbing maintenance and pump replacements essential.

Helpful?

A finalized inspection sign-off from the local code officer is the primary indicator of correct plumbing work in Bath. Proper documentation includes passed pressure tests for new supply lines and approved venting records. Quality installations feature correct pipe insulation and underground lines buried below the Pennsylvania frost depth. After completion, a clean water quality test confirms your upgraded system delivers safe, sediment-free water.

Helpful?

Plumbing upgrades directly impact other household systems in older Bath properties. Rerouting pipes near hydronic heating lines alters your boiler system. Adding new wet areas triggers electrical code reviews for proper protection. Furthermore, boring through load-bearing walls requires structural coordination to meet Pennsylvania building standards. Always evaluate your basement waterproofing systems before digging, as underground work compromises existing drain tiles and sump pumps.

Helpful?

Completing plumbing projects in Bath directly protects your home against harsh winter freeze events and burst pipes. Upgrading older pipes immediately improves your tap water quality and municipal pressure. Over the long term, permitted work increases your property value in the growing Lehigh Valley market. Using materials rated for the PA climate also reduces cumulative freeze-thaw damage and ensures compliance with environmental standards.

Helpful?

Start by confirming your water source and checking for lead service lines with the local water department. Because Bath operates under the Pennsylvania uniform construction code, secure all required permits before breaking ground. Schedule non-emergency plumbing work in the spring or fall to avoid peak winter demand. Finally, consult a professional to assess subsurface soil conditions, as regional karst limestone complicates underground installations.
