"They cleaned all our AC in about 2.5 hours. Jose was nice so was his assistant. The pandemic changes everything. They didnâ t wear their mask right. That was all. We kept our distance. I would recommend them to anyone."

"Scott was incredibly helpful and was able to fix our AC quickly. With a 3 month old child at home, having the AC stop working during a heatwave was a nightmare. One company I contacted explained that the earliest they could send a technician would be in 4 weeks, another company gave me a 2 week timeline. Scott, on the other hand, told me that he could be at my house in 20 minutes! He was knowledgeable, honest, and charged a reasonable fee. From this point forward, he will be our only HVAC specialist!!!"

"Our A/C condenser was not working and Nate diagnosed the problem and replaced the motherboard. He was able to get the system operating that day while getting the new part. Heâ s very knowledgeable and we have used him since then for the maintenance of our air handlers and our boiler as well. Very good communication and it is a pleasure to work with somebody who has integrity. Highly recommend him."

Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

You can buy a house with a 15-year-old HVAC system if you inspect the system for performance and budget for a replacement within the next three years. You can also negotiate the price with the sellers. Ask to look at the unit’s maintenance records and energy bills for the last two years to determine the shape of the HVAC system and its operating costs. Spend time in each room of the house to gauge if the HVAC keeps the home at a consistent temperature throughout.

At a minimum, an HVAC system should be serviced once per year. However, a twice-a-year service schedule—once in the spring for the cooling system and once in the fall for the heating system—is often recommended, especially for older systems, heat pumps, or in climates with extreme temperatures. Regular service, which includes inspection, cleaning, and maintenance, ensures the system runs efficiently, helps prevent costly breakdowns during peak seasons, and can extend the unit's lifespan. You can also schedule a service if you notice issues like poor performance or strange noises.

Because of the improved efficiency, ACs with higher SEER ratings tend to cool down your home better than models with a lower SEER. Higher-SEER AC units have a higher cooling capacity and a lower energy demand, meaning they may help cool your space faster without running up the electricity bill.

Both evaporator coils and condenser coils are recyclable and contain valuable, sellable metals such as copper and aluminum. Not only is it more earth-friendly to take them to a local metal recycling facility, but you can also trade them in for cash. Also, once the coils are removed from the system, they won’t have any traces of refrigerant, so you won’t have to arrange for recycling Freon or R-410A unless you’re disposing of the entire AC system.

Indications of an HVAC problem include inconsistent heating or cooling throughout your home, unpredictable temperature changes, or inadequate air flow from vents. Abnormal sounds such as grinding, banging, or hissing, and unpleasant smells like mustiness or burning are also potential warning signs. A rise in energy costs without an increase in usage may also imply decreased efficiency. An HVAC system that frequently cycles on and off or cannot maintain a stable temperature is malfunctioning.
