Very well. Amadou and his staff focused on the issue and provided several options. We had talked to two other contractors and there proposed solutions ranged from a $2000 fix (replacing step) to a $5000 option (that wasn't even in the area of the leak). Amadou included a replacement option (at a slighty lower price), along with two other options for us to consider (with varying price points)

Though there was an appointment SNAFU re scheduling the first time, I was very pleased with the help I got from Lo's. The contractor examined my situation and talked with me at length. Though he gave me a quote and was willing to do the repairs, he actually ended up giving me valuable advice about how I might solve the problem myself and where to seek alternative flooring materials that I ended up purchasing. I felt like the contractor really gave an unbiased opinion which, in this case, didn't end up leading me to use his services. However, I appreciated it greatly

After numerous bids my husband and I decided to go with Lo's based on their reviews, responsiveness, professionalism and estimate. We were very happy with their service from start to finish. Lori (Office Manager and a whole lot more) and Amadou make a great team that results in quality communication, clear expectations and friendly service. From the start, Amadou cleary communicated what needed to be done to prepare our basement for waterproofing, then what steps would be taken to get it to a fully finished state once done. We were working under tight timelines from the waterproofing company and Lo's was extremely flexible to ensure all the prep work was done on time. They were forced to move some work out due to unexpected delays from the waterproofing company and they were very accomodating to this....despite being busy with other jobs. They started by removing most of the drywall in our basement, as well as the framing, insulation and carpet. Work and cleanup was quick. Finish work went smoothly; this included rebuild of framing, new insulation, new drywall, new molding and interior painting. Staff was on time and friendly, they even allowed me to make changes along the way. On a final note, after having numerous contractors to our house for misc projects/updates, Amadou was present through the entire process and stopped by most days to inspect work. After completion I had an additional request for a minor bit of work (hour max) on something and he offered to come out and have it completed free of charge. I would highly recommend Lo's. Quality work and professionalism through and through. Thanks guys

It went well. They gave us a work schedule and communicated with us if there would be any time changes or any other concerns. They were not only timely but tidy about their work. They also were available to address any of our concerns.

I had planned to gather a few bids on the job of waterproofing my basement and installing panels on the walls, but I appreciated the warmth and professionalism of the presentation/presenter so much I cancelled my other estimates and hired these folks right away. These folks are aces. You never really know about the heart of a business until something goes wrong. There were some unexpected/unpredictable problems with waterproofing my basement and installing a panel system on the walls. These folks went above and beyond to restore faith and fix the problem to my satisfaction without an ounce of attitude. To the contrary, they insisted on old school customer service and offered more than I was even asking to make it right. They care about their customers and their product. Halfway through the first rainy season and my basement is dry as the desert. We need more businesses/people like this in the world

Patrick Dunn called to let me know his previous appointment had run long and he apologetically informed me he would be 20 minutes late. I appreciated the consideration and he arrived as promised. He was very friendly and explained thoroughly the entire process and worked with me to customize a bid to suit our needs. He expressed confidence and pride in his company and the services they provide. A follow up email containing a very precise quote with lots of details arrived within 24 hours. He followed up to make sure I had all the information that I needed and even provided me with an updated estimate that reflected some changes in our plans. Although we ultimately changed our basement waterproofing plans to involve an outdoor method, I would highly recommend them to anyone considering an indoor basement waterproofing system

TerraFirma saved me about a thousand dollars over another company. They cleaned up after themselves as much as they could. and they even refunded me difference when they figured out they could do it a simpler way. The only drawback was that they need $1000 upfront to start the work.

"I researched 4 companies to fully encapsulate a crawlspace damaged by flooding and rats. I also did a lot of research into possibly doing it myself so i knew what to look for. John's was the most expensive, but they were all in the same general ballpark. I was put off by some of the competitors marking insulation as "extra" and not including in their initial estimate. Insulation is required! John's costs a bit more but you get more too: John's insulated the entire floor with wrapped foam pads, dug a drain trench around the entire perimeter, jacked up every concrete pier to slide vapor barrier underneath the posts, and used proper mechanical fasteners on all of the wall insulation boards. Every nook and cranny was sealed with spray foam. The workers were amazing. They did not cut any corners. They nipped and tucked every tight little spot and never complained or made excuses. They built a plastic clean-tunnel every day and took it down down every afternoon. They did not leave behind trash. My crawlspace is clean enough to literally eat off the floor now. I would recommend John's if you want your job done correctly.

"Byron was great to work with. He took care to review my property as a whole and formulated a plan to address a water intrusion without leaping to the most expensive and drastic option as others had done. A year out and the spot is holding out. He will also say if something is not in his area of expertise. He offered some feedback on additional seismic structural reinforcements that even my seismic retrofit company didn’t suggest. I had him go ahead with it and his team did a good job. When I complained about the post smelling strongly (and it not dissipating), he had his team replace the post and it’s fine now! Byron stands behind his work!

"The process was long, mostly because of working with the city building codes and trying to make our project achieve our goals of aesthetics and usability. We discovered that due to our homes footprint on the property, we had some severe limits to work under. An existing carport was not permitted & had to be removed, requiring a change in rain gutters. It was really important to us that the stair blend into the existing home & be very durable and safe. The existing balcony had slate tile, steel rails and some wood siding, the backyard had exposed aggregate concrete. Jacob was able to design a beautiful staircase that continued the steel railing down into a landing of exposed aggregate concrete. The stair treads are stone that blend with the slate, but are more durable, and the whole thing is nestled down into the landscaping. They also removed pavers and re-located stone to change the backyard landscaping into a more usable space. We added a lighting to make the space usable in the evenings, and sprinklers and lawn to the backyard. Between tile, landscape, steel, electrical, and rain gutters, there were many sub-contractors on this project. Jacob managed them all wonderfully, we had no problem with anyone on the work-site at all. There was a tremendous amount of custom design work to accomplish our goals, but the end result is awesome and exactly what we wanted.

"Nik and Dimitri are wonderful. They sided the south section of our home this past summer and when I called to ask if they could fix a rotten window trim on the north side of our home they responded very quickly. They not only repaired the trim but made sure the siding around it was in good condition. They are very professional and their work is excellent.
"They arrived and within the hour our new kitchen faucet had been installed efficiently and professionally. Yes, would hire again and recommend MP Plumbing to my friends and family."

"The project Wonderman completed for us was, at its core, a re-piping project for the 2nd floor of our home. Two years ago, we had a leak on the 1st floor that educated us about the fact that the pipes inside our walls were all PVC, a cheap option used in the 1990s that is doomed to fail. Our homeowner’s insurance covered the three-month remediation when the leak occurred but did not cover replacement of the PVC plumbing – that cost was ours alone. We didn’t have enough $$ to re-pipe the whole house then, and we didn’t want to extend the time we were in a hotel with our 2 cats. So, we only re-piped the 1st floor during the original remediation. Now, two years later, it was time to re-pipe the 2nd floor. We intended to re-hire the same company that our insurance adjuster hired 2 years ago to finish the re-pipe project and to add a couple of upgrades while the bathroom walls were open. But, when we got the bid estimate from that company (a general contractor), the re-piping project cost was so high that not only was there no way to pay for any upgrades, but also the bid cut corners on the re-piping method to meet our budget. For example, it proposed that some of the new plumbing run along the ceiling on the inside of our home, not between the walls, so that there was less destruction and repair of walls to do, and so that a tub/shower surround did not have to be replaced by a new tub and tile surround. That estimate was so disappointing that we decided to seek other bids in case we could at least get the re-piping done between the walls for a reasonable price. We thought about trying to be our own general contractor, by hiring a plumber and a construction repair guy separately and trying to organize their schedules ourselves. Although less expensive, that was too daunting. We wanted a hybrid between a subcontractor and a general contractor – more reasonably priced, still highly skilled, and able to coordinate with one other subcontractor (a plumber) to ensure that the project got done promptly. After combing through dozens of reviews on Angie’s List, and meeting with 3-4 possible options, we found what we wanted in Wonderman. Raoul came to bid the project, and my impression was that he is a strong combination of capable, no nonsense, knowledgeable and articulate. He offered to handle the project either way – as the construction subcontractor (and he would recommend a good plumber), or as the general contractor. He said it would cost more to act as the general contractor, because coordination takes time and time is money. But it was clear that we could save money if we bought any parts and hardware we wanted to have installed (other than the pex pipes that would be provided). His bid to complete the re-piping project as general contractor did not involve any corner-cutting and was substantially less than the other company’s bid. So much so that additional upgrades were affordable, which he was willing and able to do. For the same price the other company was charging to do the job halfway, Wonderman would do the job 100% right and also complete upgrades that would let us SEE some improvement, not just have invisible improvements inbetween the walls. Raoul was willing to restrict work days to the days my husband does not work his graveyard shifts – Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday -- so my husband could sleep days he had night shifts He and his workers and subcontractors were on time, clean and respectful. (One minor concern was that no one wore masks, but we never insisted on it, either.) The project lasted from July 14th through August 27th, with a total of 22 work days. Raoul, Gus, or the plumber or tile subcontractor (or a combination) were always reliably at our house between 7:30 – 8:30 AM. They took only a ½ hour lunch, always at noon. They typically left at 3pm, but on some days when they had to stay late to complete something so that the next thing could begin the next day, they stayed up until 6pm. They worked hard the whole time they were there. There were a few notable challenges that they met superbly. One was matching our hand-brocaded ceiling pattern when they repaired holes made to insert new pipes. Gus figured out how to match a pattern that even real estate appraisers in the past had said would be impossible to match. The company we had two years ago (that was so expensive…) couldn’t match it at all. It was like Gus was a “wonderman.” 😊 Another challenge was my request for a pass-through window in a partial wall in the master bathroom, to let the sun through to the vanity area from a real window on the other side of the partial wall. When the drywall was torn off, it was apparent that the partial wall was filled with closely placed studs, pipes, and electrical wiring. It appeared impossible to fit a pass-through in that would allow for any standard sized glass shelves. Raoul figured it out, though, and made it very beautiful. Another challenge was the 3/4” thick glass shower door I bought to have installed. Raoul had to add wood to studs in the wall to ensure it was installed in a way that would not be compromised over time, but he did it with a smile. Another challenge was creating a vent to the roof for a bathroom exhaust fan that had never originally been in the master. It took an extra day to figure out, but they did it very well. While I can’t say that communication was perfect, I can say that it was immensely better than the communication we’ve had with other contractors and subcontractors, both ourselves and on behalf of our parents. I got about 75 – 80% of my email and text questions answered, within 12-24 hours. Raoul was always professional and friendly, and accommodated add-on requests for work up to the very end. We are beyond thrilled with the final results. See the before and after pictures. I recommend Wonderman whole-heartedly. If you are seeking an honest, reasonably priced, skilled person for anything from handyman work to general contracting, I don’t think you can do better than Wonderman. We will absolutely hire him again for all of our future projects.

"Our septic was not draining into the leach field and we had a backup from our house to our septic tank. Jason and Lonny were both very professional and able to diagnose the issues for both pipes as well as provide locations of where the issues were. They were in and out in no time and their rates are very reasonable for the services provided. Thanks again guys!
