"On the coldest day of the year, with Portland an ice rink, our fridge started warming up to a balmy 60 degrees. Not good.
Within three hours of the service call, Corey (Ice Man) was on site, fixing it. Our service call window was 12-2pm, and he was onsite by 12:30pm. Corey is professional, courteous, and you can tell that he's excited about talking to customers about appliances and appliance repair. He even offered to fix someone else's work (the water delivery system) and was quick to show us how to avoid trouble with kinked water hoses in the future.
Hopefully, we won't need to call Corey again, but if our appliances go haywire, he'll be the first call I make.

"Dillon did a dryer repair for me, replacing worn out parts, blower wheel, roller and shaft. A weird thing happened in that the dryer belt shredded within a week. Dillon came back, guaranteed his work and replaced the dryer belt for free. He is very personable and can show you what is going on inside the appliance."

"I love this company - and Nick is my hero! The shower arm in my master bath broke off inside the bronze cap, leaving most of the threads inside. In an effort to save money, I tried for three days to repair it myself, with no luck. YouTube videos had lots of advice, none of which worked for me. So, before I completely destroyed everything, I decided I'd better call a professional. I've used Pacific Crest Plumbing in the past, and have always been happy with their work and their customer service, so I contacted them through Angie's List. I didn't call because it was after hours. To my surprise, Nick emailed me back that same night, gave me a ballpark figure for repair, and I told him I'd call the next day to set an appointment. Nick was here the following morning, as promised. I explained what I'd tried, and he set right to work with the repair. He was able to get to the problem (most of which I had created with my failed attempts!) by taking out only a small amount of drywall. Within 90 minutes, he was finished and on his way. Before he left, he had not only made the repair, but had reinstalled my shower head and cleaned up the work area. I really just can't say enough nice things about this company! When I'm ready for some bathroom remodeling, PCP will definitely have my business."

Small Appliance Repair questions, answered by experts

Most repairs take 1-3 hours, though complex electrical or gas issues may require additional time.

The most obvious sign that it’s time to repair or replace your microwave is that it is no longer heating food. If you notice your food coming out cold or not as warm as it used to, call a small appliance repair technician for help.

Some other signs your microwave is in need of service include:

  • It’s making strange noises during operation.

  • The interior plate no longer spins.

  • You notice strange smells or see smoke.

  • It’s close to or more than eight years old.

One of the best ways to prevent costly repairs is to take good care of your microwave,  including cleaning your microwave regularly. If your microwave is covered in an embarrassing amount of gunk, there are a variety of simple tricks to get your microwave squeaky clean

Common household ingredients like lemons, vinegar, and baking soda will combat grease as effectively as harsh chemical solutions. Microwaves kept in good condition typically last about ten years.

Professionals guarantee precision installation, regulatory compliance, and the extension of appliance lifespan through proper handling and systems understanding.

In most cases, it is more cost-effective to repair a microwave rather than replace it, especially if the appliance is relatively new and not nearing the end of its typical seven-year lifespan. The average cost to repair a microwave is around $175, whereas a replacement can average $500, including the new unit and installation. The cost of a new microwave varies significantly by type, from $50 to $500 for a countertop model to as much as $3,500 for a combination oven. If your microwave is less than five years old, a repair is likely the better financial choice. However, if it is approaching the end of its life—usually around seven to eight years old—replacing it might be more sensible in the long run.
