"I tried to buy one from them but they said I was out of the area so Angie’s List refunded the money that I have paid. They’ve been effective. I guess that part is good. I don’t know much about pest control. The people were cordial and they return calls fairly quickly. In that regard, they’re doing well. They are a little bit higher than other companies but they are nicer to work with."

"Very professional. Promptly got this job done. We’re so happy with the service they provided!! From the first contact with office staff to the last technician visit, we were very pleased. If we have a raccoon or other vermin problem in the future, we will definitely call Burgin first!! They are knowledgeable, friendly and easy to deal with. There are a lot of pest management companies to call. But don’t bother!! Just call Burgin!!"

"Great. Get smart way surpassed my previous pest control company’s knowledge base. He uses science based methods, not just outdated routines and chemicals which other companies employed to no avail."

"My tenants complained about bugs and spiders insides the rooms. Therefore, I ordered preventive pest control through Angies list big deal,  and asked my tenants to make an appointment directly with the service provider (Simmons & Crowe Pest Control).
My tenants told me that when the service person came, but he said the pest control was only for ants, not for bugs.  Then, I called the company and ask them to change the pesticide to kill bugs.  The company agreed and the tech came second time to finish the job.  My tenants and I are totally satisfied with their service.

"Jake at Storysold Pest Control is knowledgeable and professional. He is quick to respond and reasonably priced. I find him to be trustworthy and ethical, he does not sell unnecessary services and he works with customers that are willing to do some of the work themselves as well as with customers who just want the whole service done without being involved themselves. While other companies told me I needed to replace all my insulation and do massive crawl space renovations, he offered several affordable options. With his help we no longer have a mouse problem and it was done at a fraction of what other companies quoted us. I appreciate his flexibility and fun, friendly personality. If I ever have another pest control issue, he will be my first call."

"These guys came out really quickly. I was concerned I may have a termite problem: I had a bird that was pecking a hole in my house - I was sure it was b/c he heard termite grubs or something... As it turns out... NO, it was just a bird trying to peck a hole in my home... the gent that arrived looked - then took the time to educate me about it then fixed the hole - then gave me some options for fixing it if it should happen again."

Bird Control questions, answered by experts

Metal coil-shaped retriever tools (around $50) help remove empty nests and debris from chimneys. Unless you are sure the nest is vacant, we recommend calling in a pro to handle bird’s nest removal from chimneys, vents, roofs, and other hard-to-reach places.

You can take multiple approaches to keep animals out of your edible landscape. You can use natural repellents such as mint and cayenne pepper to deter them from your garden. You can also build a fence (or opt for a privet hedge) or keep the most enticing plants in a sectioned-off area. The most efficient method of keeping your four-legged guests at bay is to determine what animal it is and create a customized plan for them.

Trees that provide a habitat to bats and an abundance of bugs—their main food source—will attract bats to your yard. Because the North American landscape has changed so much in recent years, bats have a harder time finding trees with cavities to shelter in. If your yard has a dead or dying tree with a lot of sun exposure, bats will likely be drawn to it because trees with those features are less common.

There are DIY methods and store-bought pesticides available for the public to use. However, these pesticides also come with a risk, and you need to follow the directions correctly and take precautionary measures to prevent exposure to these chemicals. These methods may be an option for small pest problems, but you should call in a pest control specialist for persistent pests and infestations.

It can be difficult to know what type of animal is in your attic until you see it. But several clues can help you narrow down the suspects:

  • Sounds: Smaller animals like rats and mice make scurrying and tapping/gnawing sounds. Larger animals like raccoons and opossums make louder clambering noises. Also, note when animals are noisy: Squirrels are active during the day, while rats are busiest at night.

  • Droppings: Rats and mice leave small, rice-shaped droppings (the rat’s version is significantly larger). Bigger droppings belong to larger critters like raccoons. As long as you’re not squeamish, an image search can help you identify what you’re seeing in your attic.

When in doubt, take photos of damage or other evidence and show them to an experienced pest control pro.
