"Better Air NW fit me into their schedule during Autumn busy season when i had my furnace off because of rodent issues in the ducts. Team came out on time, explained what they would do, got everything done in a couple of hours, and house smells great again. They were also the first to respond when i sent our requests for quotes. Would do business with again."

"They come once a year for the checkup on the furnace and air conditioning and make sure everything is set for Winter.
I have had them every year for years. It has always been good!
The air conditioner is still working and the furnace is still working, so I guess it is pretty good!"

"I am so pleased from start to finish with Integrity Air. I called in Jan for a quote and Ben was very professional and gave a great and reasonable quote for a new AC. The installation crew guys (Kyle?) just left after installation the AC (on a 28 degree day might i add). I highly recommend Integrity Air."

Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

There are a few ways to determine if a vent is open or closed. You can inspect the vent and examine the position of the fins. If there are spaces between them, the vent is open. If the fins are flat and touching, the vent is closed. You can also stand under the vent when the system is running to see if you feel air flowing through it.

You can buy a house with a 15-year-old HVAC system if you inspect the system for performance and budget for a replacement within the next three years. You can also negotiate the price with the sellers. Ask to look at the unit’s maintenance records and energy bills for the last two years to determine the shape of the HVAC system and its operating costs. Spend time in each room of the house to gauge if the HVAC keeps the home at a consistent temperature throughout.

While personal preferences widely vary, sleep experts say the best temperature for sleeping is between 60 and 67 degrees Fahrenheit rather than 78. If you do choose to sleep with your AC unit tuned to 78 degrees, you might want to use only a sheet or light blanket rather than a comforter. You might also consider installing a window unit in your bedroom so that you can be cooler in bed without wasting energy cooling the whole house.

If your AC unit isn’t cooling and you haven’t figured out why, there are a few good reasons to turn it off ASAP. The source of the issue, whether that be leaking refrigerant or a broken compressor, will worsen and cause more damage to the overall unit the longer the machine is allowed to run. When in doubt, shut it down until you or an AC pro can ensure everything is working properly.

No, it isn’t necessarily bad to turn your AC on and off frequently—contrary to popular belief. Even if you stop and start your AC throughout the day, it won’t use as much energy as it would if you ran it nonstop.

If you’re concerned about your power consumption and energy costs, there are a few simple ways to use your AC more efficiently. Regularly cleaning the filters, scheduling routine maintenance, and using a programmable thermostat are all great choices.
