"Always on time. Hard workers. Completed within est time. Quality work, friendly and will definitely have them back as the need arises. He and his associate, Josiah, repaired a large deck with three stairs and a ramp. They are not fair weather workers. It rained, snowed which did not slow them down."

"Nikk, the contractor, pressure washed the house, scraped the wood of peeling and bubbling paint. caulked and applied 2 coats of premium paint on house and trim. In prepping he carefully masked window, was careful of my plants, and he was also careful of the neighbors vehicle sitting in driveway by protecting it with a tarp. We had rain during the painting which caused brief stops until weather cleared. Nikk brought in a crew to complete the job in a timely manner. A detail oriented person. He also cleaned my gutters including flushing downspouts for a reasonable price."

"The first thing done was a complete power washing of our home with a solution that removed all traces of mildew in the old paint. Ken's paint crew showed up on time and with enough painters to complete the job in one day.  They were very careful to protect windows, plants and decking from over-spray and I could not be happier.

"They met with me to discuss a porch roof that was sinking. They were very responsive to what I needed. They were flexible about adding some additional work. Good communication. They gave me a detailed bid by email. They came out and worked promptly and had it done within the week.
They replaced existing roof support posts that were sinking through a rotting porch deck with ground-based posts. They also replaced an upper gutter and downspout.

"I got three bids for the work I needed to have done. This company was actually the most expensive. However, they did more prep work so I hope the paint job will actually last longer. He did some handyman services that I needed done before the painting could begin. This was the only company that would do the work. The work was done on the week I requested. It was delayed a day due to rain, otherwise he kept to the schedule that was promised. And most importantly...my house looks great!!"

Deck Maintenance questions, answered by experts

The least expensive way to build a pool deck is with concrete deck blocks, pressure-treated lumber, and the appropriate hardware for hanging joists and securing deck boards. With these basic yet durable deck materials, you'll have a pool deck that's built to last without the high price tag. You should also stain or seal the deck to protect it against the elements.

A deck that isn’t attached to a house is called a floating or freestanding deck. These standalone decks are built near ground level, so they usually don’t need deck stairs. Some don’t even require permits. Generally speaking, building a floating deck is faster and more DIY-friendly than constructing one that’s connected to your home.

In most cases, there should be a small gap between the house and the deck, usually no more than ½ to ¾ of an inch. This space allows water and moisture to flow through instead of pooling against the side of your house. It also lets flashing protect your siding from runoff, which is one of the most common issues with decks.

While you can use various materials like sand or even just soil, gravel is widely considered the best option to put under a deck. It provides excellent drainage and is resistant to water, fire, and pests. Gravel also helps anchor the soil to prevent erosion during heavy rain and acts as a built-in weed blocker, reducing regular upkeep. Furthermore, it is simple to spread, available in various textures and tones, and adds a polished look that complements any deck design.

Composite decking might cost more upfront, but it delivers value in terms of durability. Unlike wood, composite material resists common deck problems such as rotting, fading, warping, and all the other things you don’t want a deck to do. The extra processes lead to a higher price tag, but you’ll save big in maintenance costs down the road.
