"February 18, 2019 Recommendation for Angie’s List Work Done by: Portland Tree Care, Boring, OR Work Done on: February 12, 2019 Scope of Work: Full pruning and thinning of two small Birch trees in front yard, two large Birch trees, one large Maple tree and one very large Sweetgum tree in back yard. Also apply a systemic insecticide soil drench to control Aphid in all of our Birch trees. Brian Mowld was quick to respond to my request for a quotation. He was able to email his quote to me the same day that he came to the house to look at the job. We had to be a little flexible with the planned schedule due to unexpected snow here. However, on the scheduled day for the project Brian and his two man crew, Jake and Dan, arrived on time and went right to work. They were very polite and professional and did a wonderful job for us including a very thorough clean-up. My wife and I are very pleased with the look and shape of our trees. It is also reassuring that our trees are now better prepared to withstand the strong East wind we get in our area. We have used Portland Tree Care in the past with very good results and this time was no exception. "From time to time in our search for good quality work and services, a business and its owner stand out above the rest. This time was one of those occasions. I just assumed that removing a tree was a routine endeavor for a tree service but once I spoke to Rob Dickson, the owner of Branched Out LLC Tree Service, I knew this project was going to be different and top notch. From the first time we talked, Rob explained his company, the procedures, and straight up, honest pricing. He scheduled us in a prompt and timely manner just a few short days from our first contact. He coordinated with a crane company and operator, arranged for dump boxes to be delivered and placed, and coordinated every step of the way in person. While awaiting the actual day of the tree removal, Rob kept in contact and updated us about any important issues we might face in our project. He was honestly concerned about our well-being, safety, the conservation of our yard and property and that of our neighbors. Once the work began, he was true to form in guiding the process and making sure everything went as planned. His entire crew was professional, polite, and well trained. "I want to start out by saying that this team was beyond great! Starting with Bret who has a passion for trees and really knows his stuff. He knew what all of the trees and even this portugese laurel. He really cares about the trees.
His team was amazing! I was worried that the Hemlock could not be saved. I had been told by another tree service guy that removing it was the best solution. And the guy who took care of it made it look effortless. The team surpassed my expectations and I cannot say how pleased I am with the results. And the price was very reasonable given all the work they did.
This is now my go-to tree service team. I highly recommend them.

"It didn't go at all.  They said they could do the job in 1/2 day.  I thought that was a tight time frame but I trusted the estimator.  I was told they would arrive between 1130 and 1200 on Friday.  The office called on Friday at 1230 and said it would be another hour; they arrived at 200.
When I met them at the driveway, the owner, Matt, told me they were only going to take off a couple of branches from the tree to be trimmed.  I explained the tree was to be trimmed all the way up to the top, which was what the bid stated.  His response was "No, we can't do that, that is a lot of work."  He then proceeded to look at the tree and stated "We can't do that, the tree would look ugly.  That is just a lot of work." 
At this point he and Robin (the estimator) walked off.  Robin proceeded to get in her truck, Matt came back towards his truck waved at me and said we would have to reschedule and left.
Worst experience ever.  They are very unprofessional.  I proceeded to find a different company to do the work.  (Fortunately I found Master Tree Care on Angie's list.) 
Matt did call on the following Monday, to reschedule (for that day) and to apologize for being unprofessional. I explained it appeared as though they were not going to do the job I needed done so I had found someone else. I do not reccommend them, even though their bid is low.
