"We had Don Geyman, owner of DG Communications come to our home to give us an estimate for installing some security cameras around our house. I immediately disliked Mr. Geyman. When telling him that he could absolutely not mess with one of the cords attached to my computer, he started being very condescending and talking down to me, as if I couldnâ  t possibly understand what he was saying. I told him I, in fact, do understand what heâ  s saying but I am saying as the customer that he cannot touch the one specific cord because it doesnâ  t belong to me. Despite this, we paid Mr. Geyman $1955.10 to install these cameras because he demanded payment by check or cash up front. He didnâ  t take cards and would not schedule an installation date unless it was paid up front. Mr. Geyman did not have us sign a contract and did not inform us of any cancellation policies or any kind of fees for an estimate. This is important. A full week before the installation was to occur, we decided to cancel and have someone else do the installation. When I emailed him to cancel, all he said was no and wanted to know if we wanted to reschedule. I emailed back and said no, we are having someone else do it so I will be expecting a full refund. It took Mr. Geyman hours to respond. Eventually he said he would refund us but was going to charge a cancellation fee. Again we did not sign a contract and the paperwork he sent mentioned nothing about a cancellation fee. Mr. Geyman took 10% which was $195.55 for doing absolutely nothing. The refund invoice said it was for his time and administration fee. Had we not paid him up front like he demanded, the estimate would have been free. At minimum this is unethical. There was no signed contract and nothing in the invoice about any fees. Mr. Geyman is not someone you want to work with and best of luck if you want to cancel and get a refund."

Efficient Communication Solutions responded quickly to my request for information on the services they provide. Don, one of the co-owners, visited and listened carefully to my wish-list for a new system. We went through many options and configurations and found one that met my needs for a reasonable price for the equipment and installation. The two-person crew who did the actual installation were great. James and Jacob came prepared, did top notch work with installing all the cabling and cameras, all while being a delight to work with. There were no corners cut, no sloppy work, they paid careful attention to details, and the final result is a neat, professional installation. The NVR configuring was completed and tested, and they explained the settings and usage clearly. The scheduling of the installation was less than 2 weeks out after signing a contract and the work was done in just over 3 days. I want to also mention that James and Jacob were very careful when around my cats, not letting them outside, and not scaring or disturbing them. Their efforts were greatly appreciated. On a scale of 1 to 10, the work ECS did on this system was a solid 10. We are a Mobile RV repair and installation service. Our shop rate is $100 service call and $150 an hour. That sure beats a $500 towing charge or unhooking everything to drive your rig to a far away shop so you can get on the calendar to repair your rig.

No, you shouldn’t use an extension cord to plug a generator directly into your home without using a transfer switch. That’s because systems like pumps and HVAC fans need a steady power source that might not be available directly from your generator alone. If you bypass the circuit breaker box, you risk damaging your electrical system, creating a risk of electrical fire or electrical shock to you or any workers repairing lines on your local electrical grid.

You may need a permit for a portable generator if you’ll be installing a transfer switch for your primary residence or similar work. Otherwise, a permit for other uses may not be necessary. Check your local building codes or ask a local generator installer for more information about your local regulations.

If you have a transfer switch properly installed, the generator and main electrical power cannot feed the system at the same time. However, you should still shut off the power at your main circuit breaker panel before activating the generator. While diesel is relatively stable, it won’t last nearly as long as propane and you may have to replace it if it sits unused for too long.
