We moved into a new house and the hot water heater was not working. Didn't realize it was connected to a light switch, he flipped the switch and charged us $160. We called another place and they said they wouldn't have done that and it's riduculous

I had a service contract with them. Water was gushing out of my system. Plumber said it was furnace evaporator coil. They came, after three days (my contract said they had to). Saw the problem, which I already knew I had The service person who came said they needed to get back and would call me the following Monday (it was a Friday). Otherwise did nothing. Charged $160. Did not call back until over a week later. Did not have any more info. Another company I called, solved the problem and even told me the part I needed was under warranty. I called customer service of Jacobs to complain. They hung up on me.

I was surprised I was charged $160 for the visit. When I scheduled the appointment I was not told there was a charge. No one else to my knowledge charges and usually people let you know ahead of time. What was interesting was the technician seem to want to talk me out of having them replace my hot water heater telling me that a plumber could do it for less money. I have since called other installers and haven’t found that to be true. The pricing wasn’t out of range but I think customer should be told there’s a charge especially when it’s that high.

We have used Jacob's for over 12 years. They completely redid the HVAC in our previous house and serviced it for years after. When we moved and needed work done on our new (to us) 1950 mid-century modern home, we called Jacob's. Their bid was reasonable. They were great to work with from start to finish, as always!

Excellent, from first phone call, to timely scheduling (only company that could come out on short notice out of four I called), to on time arrival, and the extra effort of Mike the installer to physically help us with something totally unrelated to what he was there for and making a return trip with a part to connect the range I didn’t have... it was great. Would definitely recommend, excellent customer service, and will call them again. And thanks Mike!

The HVAC leaked on our hardwood floors because they forgot to attach a hose for water. Additionally, the installation specialist left muddy hand and footprints on our walls and attic hatch. Jacobs sent a cleaning crew and they were unable to reverse the damage. In the end, Jacobs paid for the walls and attic hatch to be professionally repainted. Please note, they were quick to right both situations and very apologetic, but both the leak and damage should have not happened to begin with.

They have been providing this service at my house for about 18 years, for most of that time under a 2-yr service contract that includes annual routine maintenance visits, priority on emergency calls, discounted repairs and credit on replacement of furnace. It has always been easy to schedule visits, they keep me informed when service person is en route.

The installation went smoothly, the new furnace work great, quieter than old one. They also replaced the existing programmable thermostat with a new wifi-enabled one, but they didn't set it up so the schedule program would work, so there were a few days when I was changing the setting manually. I also had some issues connecting the wifi. Bob came by and solved both problems, & now it works great. Their pricing program doesn't break out all the items, and I had another project done, so I can only guess how much the furnace cost. They did automatically credit the Carrier rebate plus their own coupon for being a loyal customer for maintenance.

The first Jacobs tech missed accurately detecting the carbon monoxide after my home monitor went off and I was concerned. Had NW Natural out and they said I had a major CO spillage from my draft hood and shut the gas off to my furnace-in the winter. Another Jacobs tech then came out, 11 days later, and agreed that I had a problem and corrected the clog in my furnace exhaust system replaced necessary parts.

The guy was late arriving and checked everything out and said it was fine. I asked for a total bill and he wouldn’t give me a straight answer. He said they had a credit card on file. When I got the bill it was more than double from what they quoted me. It was supposed to be 160.00 and I got charged 350.00. I asked how this was possible and they said I have to pay for travel time. Turns out he was less than ten miles away. He spent less than an hour checking everything and didn’t make one change to my work. These people are straight crooks and I would strongly recommend not doing business with these thieves.

Joe generated estimates that were informative and provided a decent range of options. Bob inspected and gave assurances the job could be completed despite complications from limited space for a new furnace. Scheduling for installation went well. Tony provided installation. Jacobs coordinated with Badger Electric for the electrical component. Tony was pleasant, hard working, responsive to questions and concerns, and punctual with completion. The promise that the job could be completed within the limited space was followed through on. Badger did an excellent job of routing the electrical to avoid damage to interior drywall. Tony provided all required paper work and explained details well. Bob responded quickly to a minor follow-up issue. Both the A/C and heat work well and as expected. The city inspection was thorough and commented favorably about the workmanship. I think there are less expensive companies to go with, but we have no regrets with Jacobs based on our overall experience with them. The cost does not include the Oregon Dept. of Energy tax rebate of $352.00

DON'T HIRE THEM A/c unit: the installation went well, but it stopped working about 2 weeks later. It turned out they didn't change the circuit breaker to the right level...We ended up replacing it ourselves, but the guy that did come out was helpful. Thermostat: HORRIBLE! and I can't believe we even used them....They came, couldn't find the problem (the old thermostat had lasted many years) and installed a new thermostat of the same type. Couldn't get it working, then charged us over $600.00. Just said they couldn't find the problem-BUT- they could sell us a $1500.00 wireless thermostat. No furnace or a/c working when they left, and no return date. So we called, and they pretty much said too bad, it's $275.00/hour plus the $160.00 service call charge. We were aware of the $160.00 service charge, but no where did they let us know of the hourly charge, and they really didn't care that nothing worked. WE are having another company come out (with an A rating on Angies) who kind of chuckled and said yea, they do a lot of clean up for Jacobs.....lesson learned!

It was a top of the line Carrier. It took 2 people to put it in. They did a good job. They had an old man that had all kinds of experience and he was teaching me. It was an enjoyment to watch him. It was a Carrier furnace and a Carrier air conditioner, all Carrier. They were very good. It’s still going strong. It’s quiet and good. We did a lot of piping and that underneath the house too, and they took out the old pipe. They repiped the intake and outtake. They were here at least 3 days solid. It was 2 people mainly, but when they started bringing in the equipment it was 3.

They come out every year to inspect. They wouldn’t put a new air cleaner in it. They would have one of those little one-inch ones. That is not what mine was made for, mine was made for the four-inch one. He said, “well you could just double these up.” I got to reading some stuff and that is just not appropriate. I got a 4’’ x 25’’ x 20’’, and that’s the one you use. You don’t double up on the little ones, because that actually stops air flow more than it cleans it. It is $115 for every year. I liked all the people that came out, but the big thing is to put in an air cleaner. They were very professional, I would use them again. They were good.

technician showed up before expected, quickly (less than 20 minutes) determined that the unit was kaput and would need to be repaired. Charged $360. He gave us a voucher for $300 off a new unit, but when I called the next day, I was told they were 6 weeks out. Other vendors were from a few days to 2 weeks out. We got someone else to do it in 2 days.

It was horrible. It got really ugly. During the installation I figured out they weren't doing some things that were in the quote. So I asked for an itemized list of what the expenses were and they refused to give that. I know they overcharged us by $300 and they made good on that. At the same time I was going to use them to install and air conditioning at my mother in laws house and I told them no I did not want them to do the work. They said I had completed the contract and the only way they would stop the work is that they would charge 25% of what the bid was. I finally got that resolved. For us they did an air conditioning and a furnace. It turned out they installed part of the piping to the furnace incorrectly, the unit they installed was ungodly loud and the serviceman came out and said it was pretty loud. He did a few things and he thought it made it quieter, I didn't think it made it quieter which is subjective. Finally they had a Carrier rep come out and I think he made a fool of himself. They ended up wrapping the compressor a couple of times. They got the supply and the return lines reversed. It was all around pretty ugly.

Not well. In less than two months of installation, we had to have multiple service calls on the unit. Currently, have no AC, we need a new unit and it's 100 degrees outside. Most of the people have been nice - so no complaints there. But when you spend $6,000 dollars, you expect things to work. In regards to hiring again - it is undecided at this point.
