"I am not pleased with the service I received! They damaged my waterline and stated someone would be out to fix it. It's been 9 months and no one will return my calls nor have they come to fix what they damaged! They ruined my lawn and never came back to replace the soil they dug up! They ruined my basement floor and I had to replace my entire floor! They said they would be out to test the sump pump and drains that were installed, again, it's been 9 months and no one has followed up with me! I'm really concerned that the lifetime warranty they say I have even exists!"

"My chest freezer broke down and I did not want to buy a new one since I could not afford the same size. I reached out to appliance parts pro and they were confident that what I ordered would fix my problem. $200 in parts later and I now have a broken freezer on my porch and am still paying the loan to this terrible company. They just want you to order parts and try them because they know you can't return them. I hate this company with every fiber of my being and will make sure that anyone that has a broken appliance will not use them. To top it off, their site is so screwed up that it give you an error trying to log back in. I ended up having to create THREE different accounts because every time I went to place a new order, it would not let me login and it would not send a password reset email. DON'T GET RIPPED OFF."

"Back in 2017 we had an entire new heat pump, inside and outside installed. Bob and his employee Michael installed everything. We came home one day to light switches reversed in the house and one of our cats locked in a room that the door always remained closed to. So we had a bad feeling about what was going on while we had to be away at work. We have one camera in our basement which caught footage of Michael trying to pick the lock to a heavy metal door we have in the basement. Violated is a very appropriate word to describe how we felt after knowing our entire house was rummaged through. But not only violated, scared because we didn’t know if he’d come back to our house after the job was done. We found this footage the day after it had happened and called Bob to inform him of this. While Bob did go out of his way to finish the job on the weekend and alone, we made it very clear Michael was not to be on our property again. When doing a small remodel in the house after the fact, we found above the indoor unit, a lock pit set along with a number of our personal items he stashed there, that we can only assume he intended to steal. Which made us go looking above air ducts in the basement. We found multiple piles of copper piping from the brand new line set that was being stashed. Every year since the brand new unit was installed we have had nothing but problems. We continued to call Bob because of the warranty on the unit. Comments like “well you don’t want my employee on your property” and “you don’t like my employee” we’re made- as if we didn’t have a solid reasoning behind it. Bandaid after bandaid with Bob. There is no way we should need serviced every spring and winter. I just simply don’t believe it. Yet here we are again needing to be serviced this spring. We absolutely will not be calling Bob. The reason we waited so long to make this publicly known was because we didn’t want to dirty Bobs name or reputation over what we thought was just an employee problem, who Bob still employs. Along with also being scared of what the repercussions could be by making this public. But after continuous rude remarks and constant attitude after every time we call seasonally with problems, we feel that it’s time to make this publicly known because who knows who else has had similar issues. If you do a little background check on his employee Michael, you won’t want him at your house either! Anyone who wants to see this footage or pictures of proof- please feel free to message me!"

"So Monday of Thanksgiving week, 11/22/21, my husband is investigating a leaking hot water heater. It was at least 10 years old. He couldn't stop the leak or fix it so he called a large company to get someone here to take a look. They called him back and said they couldn't get here until Friday, the day after Thanksgiving!!!! He did another search and called Thacker. He said the lady on the phone was very nice and that someone would get back to him shortly. He called them back because he gave them the wrong size of the water heater and they said they had one. Within an hour then were here with a hot water heater. Forrest and Ed brought it in and to the basement but it was damaged/dented pretty bad, even though the box was fine. Off they went to find another! They were back in about an hour and a half and installed it. Great job and fast in getting to us. Who would want to go without hot water for a week?! Not us! Thank you Thacker Heating and Plumbing. We would highly recommend!!"

Water Heaters questions, answered by experts

If you’re having problems with your hot water heater and it’s 10 to 15 years old—the typical life span of a gas hot water heater—you may want to consider replacing it rather than repairing it. Water heater replacement costs about $1,300 on average. If your water heater is younger than nine or 10 years, paying for repairs is most likely worth it. You can always have a plumber assess your fixture to see what it would cost to fix it and then decide if it’s more cost-effective in the long run to replace it.

Basements, specifically those without any air conditioning, are the best location for a hybrid water heater. These rooms are less likely to experience extreme temperature fluctuations, which can affect your hybrid water heater’s efficiency and performance. Basements often have more than enough space for their tanks and proper air circulation. Hybrid water heaters can also be a bit noisy, but putting them in your basement will keep the noise away from your main living areas.

If you're replacing a broken water heater, now is a great time to make sure you're selecting a unit that has the right capacity for your household. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, a small 50-gallon to 60-gallon tank is sufficient for households with one to three people. A medium-sized 80-gallon tank is considered ideal for three to four people. A larger tank may be needed if your household has four to six people.

Installing a water heater without a permit can result in high fines—as much as hundreds of dollars per day, in some areas. It can also void your homeowners' insurance and cause problems when selling your home because it violates local building codes and safety regulations.

Yes, hybrid water heaters can be noisy — noisier than traditional water heaters. The sound they produce is often compared to the hum of a dishwasher. Its noise comes from the heat pump’s fan and compressor as they work to pull in and compress the air. While it’s not totally disruptive, especially if the unit is installed in less frequented areas, like a basement or garage, it’s something to keep in mind if you’re sensitive to noise or if the unit will be placed near bedrooms or living spaces.
