So Monday of Thanksgiving week, 11/22/21, my husband is investigating a leaking hot water heater. It was at least 10 years old. He couldn't stop the leak or fix it so he called a large company to get someone here to take a look. They called him back and said they couldn't get here until Friday, the day after Thanksgiving!!!! He did another search and called Thacker. He said the lady on the phone was very nice and that someone would get back to him shortly. He called them back because he gave them the wrong size of the water heater and they said they had one. Within an hour then were here with a hot water heater. Forrest and Ed brought it in and to the basement but it was damaged/dented pretty bad, even though the box was fine. Off they went to find another! They were back in about an hour and a half and installed it. Great job and fast in getting to us. Who would want to go without hot water for a week?! Not us! Thank you Thacker Heating and Plumbing. We would highly recommend!!

I never received a response. In fact, Angie's List reminded me I didn't get a response as well. I've been in business for many years myself with poor success with contractors for the home and my experience in most cases remains the same. If you can't respond why are you in business? Customer service means answering the question(s) by at least affirming you don't do that type of work. It's call common courtesy and professionalism. The sad part is I actually was going to have more work I knew they would perform and they've lost out on that. This business is less than two miles from my home! A response would take less than one minute by email. Please, don't respond with the obligatory "We never got the message."

Everything from start to finish with this job was ideal. I called Thacker Plumbing this morning, after we discovered a small leak in our basement last night. Lavonda, the business owner's wife, answered the phone and was extremely friendly, courteous, and understanding. I asked if it would be at all possible to send out to someone today, as we had no idea of the severity of the leak, or the damage it could cause. Lavonda let us know the plumber she was sending, Buddy, had over 25 years of professional experience, and even gave me a window of time (between 12 and 3) that we could expect him. Buddy texted us just before 1PM to let us know he should be at the house within 40 minutes, and then promptly arrived at 130PM. He quickly and professionally assessed the issue, and then asked for permission to remove a section of drywall in our (unfinished) furnace room. There, he was able to find a leak from our washer pipe, and swiftly made the repair, keeping us aware of his progress throughout. 
We would absolutely use this company again should we have any plumbing needs. The customer service was excellent, and so was the quality of professional service we received.

It went great. We are now cool. And the warranty company is not easy to use. Richard is great.

The installations (plural) went fine. The situation was LONG and ARDUOUS however.
I purchased a new water heater to replace my 14 yr old Whirlpool in Feb. Buddy and John came out to install it and everything worked fine for about a month. Then the pilot light started going out, and when I would reignite the unit, the flames would "bellow" inside (flame up, die back, flame up again, etc.). I called these guys to investigate the issue, which they did ...thoroughly. They determined the chimney access point was too low, causing the unit to overheat and shut down (as the unit was not properly vented). They sent their HVAC guys out to drill a new access point. As they finished up, they discovered another issue: the tank was the wrong type. It was set up for liquid propane whereas we have natural gas.
FYI, this was my oversight. The fuel type was clearly indicated on the product specs - I just didn't realize we had natural gas until that moment.
So I bought a natural gas water heater and brought it back, only to find out it was 10 inches too tall (again, my oversight). I then bought a THIRD unit and thankfully third time was the charm. They installed that Wed and now we FINALLY have hot water again.
The point of this review is not to vent my frustration over my hasty purchase decisions and lack of plumbing knowledge. Rather, I wanted to speak to the patience and professionalism of Thacker Plumbing & Heating throughout this ordeal. They were deeply invested in helping me resolve this issue, and never once overcharged for their services.
I would use them again in a heartbeat.

Everything has progressed as expected. The staff is friendly, courteous, and vet professional. Richard Thacker plumbing and heating has worked on our home previously and any further needs will also be completed through them. We have been very satisfied!

Very courteous in setting up the appointment. The plumber was on time, courteous and professional. Didn't take long to complete the job, but ensured it was done right. Left no mess behind. The price was reasonable and I will definitely call Thacker for any future plumbing needs.

He's been there countless times since we bought the house. He made miracles and he compromised his prices for me because he knew he were on tight budget. He came out 10:00 at night 2 days before Christmas when he was rushing to Detroit to see his sick father. If he was my father or my brother, I couldn't ask for anything more. He's probably been to my house 10 or 12 times for various things and continuing things for different things. His pricing is very incredibly reasonable. I was shocked. I was really worried. I was expecting to get screwed up and in the beginning especially when he knew what we were up against. He discounted his hourly rate by like 15% for no reason than just because we needed the help.
