"Excellent - Josh, Mark, and the team tore out 3 feet of concrete floor to replace the base of the stack pipe then worked their way up. Project took 2 days, first floor was completed and back on line the first day. Second floor and cleanup was done the second. 100 year old home so none of the old plumbing was easy to access. Very happy with results and with the professionalism of his team."

"Professional, Honest, Trustworthy, Reliable, Clean!! Hired The Ohio Basement Co to fix our flooding basement after we put a lot of money into digging outside of the foundation (another co) and suddenly after a few years we still had water pouring in every rain and once again we had a flooded non-useable basement. Jake/Chris explained their process after listening to our concerns and formed a plan - and there is no high pressure sales pitch â they are here to help you with your problem, and they do! Chris and Jake work in your home, not someone else. They show up on time daily, are professional and polite, and if you poke your head over their shoulder they explain what they are doing. You are proud to have them working in your home and they clean up when they are finished. Their Jack-hammers have a vacuum on them and there is very minimal dust if any- nothing like other companies forewarned us about their own work in their quotes. The last day the crew was finishing up and the torrential downpour beganâ ¦.and we listened and watched the new pump work down in the basement, saw the water pour outside our home at the drain end, and no water flooding our basement!. Proof that first day, and every rainfall since. Donâ t waste your hard earned money on other dirty, dusty, high-pressure companies, trust these guys to do their hard work in your home and be proud to gain your basement back as a useful and enjoyable foundation that has been lost due to a leaky basement structure."

Sump Pump Installation questions, answered by experts

Sewer ejector pumps need to be cleaned at least once a year by a professional. You shouldn’t attempt to clean it yourself because it can release sewer gasses that are toxic to humans and can be fatal. But to keep the system as clean as possible between professional inspection and cleaning services, be sure to only flush human waste and toilet paper. Avoid flushing items that can clog the system, like paper towels, grease, oil, or menstruation products.

No. Sump pumps have different capacities, which refers to the volume of water that they can remove. They also come in various horsepower ratings, which measure the size of the pump’s motor. For many homes, 1/3 horsepower is enough. But if you live in an area that floods often, you might need a more powerful model.

A sewage ejector pump is necessary if you have any plumbing fixtures, such as a bathroom, laundry room, or sink, located below the level of your home's main sewer line. Standard plumbing relies on gravity to drain wastewater and solid waste into the municipal sewer system or a septic tank. For fixtures below this level, like those in a basement, gravity cannot move the waste upward. The ejector pump provides the force needed to pump the sewage up to the main line. Without one, wastewater from below-ground fixtures would back up, potentially causing a sewage overflow and flooding. If all of your plumbing is on the main floor or higher, gravity is sufficient and an ejector pump is not needed.

Yes, you can add a battery to your existing sump pump. There are batteries available that can be plugged into your existing system; however, most battery backups come as a complete system and act as a replacement for your existing sump pump.

Several indicators suggest it's time for a sump pump replacement. A key factor is age; if the pump is over 10 years old, its lifespan is likely ending. Performance issues are also clear signs, such as the pump running constantly, cycling on and off frequently, making unusual noises or vibrations, or failing to function at all. A faulty or burnt-out motor is another definite sign a replacement is needed. Additionally, if you notice any signs of incorrect installation, the pump should be replaced. For a definitive diagnosis, a vetted plumber can assess the pump and confirm whether a replacement is necessary.
