In January, 2016, I specifically requested, via angieslist.com messaging feature, that our old 40 gallon tank be replaced with a new 50 gallon tank. With 3 kids, I really wanted to avoid running out of hot water, without going towards the expensive tankless. Mullaly's Plumbing responded to me very promptly, via the messaging, setting up a time and date to come. I believe they also called to confirm the time. Neither they nor I verbally confirmed the size of the water heater, but apparently I should have. Everything about the install request (quality, responsiveness, punctuality, professionalism) was spot on, except for the communication around the water heater size. I was not given a written quote before the install. When I asked about the water heater size during the install (I couldn't visually tell if it was 40 or 50gal), I was told that it was 40, and that that should be plenty for 5 people. I was told that if I ran out of hot water and felt I still needed the 50, that I could request them to come swap it out, for only the charge of the difference between water heaters. 2 weeks later, I did email them via the angieslist messaging asking for the 50 gal. I was told that they would come back out within a couple weeks as soon as they found somewhere for the current water heater to go. 2 months later, after still not hearing anything, I sent another message. I was told to call to set up another appointment to complete the upgrade. I called, set up, and waited. The install was cancelled, due to other priorities, which I was understanding of, since this was a low priority upgrade. So I called, set up an appointment, and was cancelled again. At this point, frustrated from waiting around for cancelled service calls, I messaged via angieslist to state that I am almost always available, please let me know when they knew they would be available, and I would call again. That was in April, and was the last contact I made, and never received a reply. It's now winter, and with the extra cold water coming in to be mixed with hot water, I am running out of hot water at least weekly - tonight it was one child's bath. With the exception of the communication issues, I was really happy with the company and install. However, in the future, I will not use any company that exhibits red flags in communication - no written quote, no confirmation of specifications.
