"I called for an estimate.  I got a quick response and an estimate.  We set a tentative date for the work.  Weather and a busy schedule bumped the job by a week. As the digging progressed, we agreed that the problem involved a collapsed drainage pipe.  This was additional work  not anticipated.  We agreed on a $150 increase in the price, which was more than  fair."
