"We had used Mako before and were pleased with their work however they are expensive, they charge $125 just to make a house call even if you don't eventually use them, but if you do use the they apply the $125 to the bill. This last time we used Mako, my wife tried to call me to approve an estimate of $445 to install a bathroom faucet and drain cover that I had purchased, but couldn't reach me so she let the man start the work. When she finally got a hold of me, I a few choice words with the plumber telling him that the price was outrageous, at which point he gave the phone back to my wife. I tried to apologize for my poor choice of words but the plumber would not take the phone. After he finished the work and was in his truck packing up my wife ran the water and used the drain plug to check the equipment he installed and water started gushing out under the cabinet, she called him back and in to fix it. He said the clip that holds the water hose in didn't click into place, but isn't that what I paid him a lot of money for? Its a good thing she check to see of the faucet worked properly. She also said the water pressure was very low and he said that was due to the kind of faucet I purchased and that was the best he could do. When I came home and look at the job, the water pressure was very low and after reading the installation directions I tried to adjust it myself but realized that the plumber also took the specialized wrench that was supplied with faucet kit that I purchased. I would never use them again or recommended them to anyone, as I had done so before."

Customers say: Super punctual

"Anthony was wonderful. I called him in a panic because Home depot dropped off a dishwasher and although they were supposed to install it claimed it was too complicated. I had taken the day off from work and there I was with the new dishwasher and old one. It was a Friday and Anthony calmed me down over the phone and said he would make me his last stop of the work day. He text and called when he was on his way and arrived almost the exact time that we discussed at 9 am. He went above and beyond to remove the old dishwasher and install the new one. He had issues with the hose that was provided by home depot but did not give up on me or say he needed to come back Monday. He completed the job tested to make sure everything worked properly and did not charge me anything extra than the originally quote he gave me. A complete gentleman, I will definitely be referring him to all my friends and clients. Thank you so much Anthony."

"A plumber from another company had been by my house and noticed that my well pump was rapidly cycling and gave me an estimate of around $3000 to replace one or two pressure tanks.  No other options were offered.   The job seemed simple and the materials not so expensive, so I thought that estimate was high.   I called various friends to see if they had a favorite plumber they'd recommend.  A realtor recommended Joe.
I called Joe that afternoon. He (1) answered his phone when I called him one afternoon.   He said he'd call back that night.   He didn't because he worked past 9pm, but (2) did call me the next morning and we set up a visit to deal with my well pump cycling frequently.   No long wait before I could get an appointment.  No inconvenient times.  No vague estimates of when he'd arrive even though it was a mid-afternoon appointment.
Today, on the day of the appointment, Joe called me 50 minutes in advance and said he was running early and wondered if I'd like him to come 30 min earlier than the appointed time.   He said he's rarely early like that, but he was today.
Joe (3) showed up right when he said he would.   He (4) quickly diagnosed the problem as there being no air in the pressure tank.  (I had suspected that but didn't know how to verify or (with my very old tank) how to correct it.)  He quickly moved to the solution of simply using a compressor to recharge the tank using a nipple on the tank that he pointed out.   He trained me how to do it myself next time.
It was all done quickly and professionally.  Kudos to Joe.  He has a new regular customer.

"The plumber who came was professional, polite and informative. He systematically outlined for us what he planned to do to resolve our problem, armed himself with the tools he needed to accomplish in short order the task at hand. He pointed out how he accomplished his task and encouraged inspection and comment over his work. We were satisfied not just with his work but also the speed in which he did it."

"Great job. Punctual, polite, clean. Diagnosed the problem and fixed it. Then went the extra step of testing the unit. He found another problem (clogged filter), and took care of that at no charge. Also fixed the door hinge spring at no charge. The absolute best service call I have ever experienced. Can’t recommend him highly enough!!!"

Percolation Tests questions, answered by experts

Asbestos was commonly used in cloth wiring, but not all types of cloth wiring contain it. The age, condition, and appearance of the wiring can provide clues as to whether asbestos is present or not, but the only way to know for sure if the wiring has asbestos is to have it tested.

Older textures may contain asbestos, requiring careful handling and professional inspection before work begins to ensure safety compliance.

Asbestos is commonly found in certain older homes, depending on the time period in which they were built. Asbestos use in home construction began in the 1920s and peaked after World War II before being limited by legislation in the ’70s, so a house constructed in 1880 is unlikely to contain asbestos, while one built in 1950 is much more likely to. Research a home’s history to determine the time period when it was built and any renovations made since.

In the 1980s, the use of asbestos in house siding materials underwent a significant decline, ultimately being phased out by the mid-1980s to early 1990s. This change was largely due to a growing awareness of the severe health risks associated with asbestos exposure, particularly its link to lung diseases and cancers. With increased public concern and regulatory agency involvement, building codes and regulations were updated to restrict the use of asbestos in construction materials.

Federal law doesn’t require homeowners to disclose the presence of asbestos in their home, but some states and local municipalities may require it. That is why it’s important to test an older home for asbestos and other health hazards before moving forward with a sale.
