"Great experience with Premier HVAC. We decided over the winter to remodel and finish the attic of our 1925 North Buffalo Home for more usable living space. We were faced with the challenge of heating the attic space for year round use. After talking with several contractors, Jake at Premier had the best solution for our attic space. In doing so, we were also able to impliment central air into the mix and remove the old less efficient mini-spits on the house. Premier's solution was to offer a heat and central air into our home using multiple zones (zone controllers) which could be controlled independently. So not only did we add heat to out attic, we also were able to add air conditioning to both the attic space and second floor living space of the home. Registers and returns were installed strategically to also pull warm air from the first floor into the system, to assist in residual cooling of the main floor of the house without having to tare open walls throughout the entire house. Premier was efficient, kept the dust and mess contained, and competitively priced. Jake at premier was prompt and completed the job exactly as described. Along the way, Jake was even able to provide suggestions for insulating the space in a manor that would maximize the benefits of the HVAC system, and even prolong its life. Highly recommend Premier Heat (HVAC) Company. Looking forward to enjoying cooler summers and additional climate controlled living space."

"Excellent! I woke up on Christmas Eve with no heat. Gary came that day to reset the furnace. This was a newer furnace and it would not reset by just turning the power off and back on again. Gary came back at a later date to clean the furnace."

"Touchdown Heating & Cooling was great! My furnace broke on Thursday night, so I called for a quote on Friday afternoon, thinking that I might be able to have them take a look sometime on the weekend. They initially scheduled me for Saturday afternoon, but I got a call later saying that they were in the area and could swing by that same day (Friday). Chris, the owner, and Austin came by, took a look, and got me a quote for a repair, a basic replacement, and a deluxe replacement. My wife and I called around 9:00 that evening, requesting the basic replacement, and they were able to get it done by early Saturday afternoon. Chris and Austin were total professionals from start to finish. No bs, completely up front in the evaluation of the problem and in laying out our options. They quoted, we signed, and then they executed perfectly. I have no reservations in whole-heartedly recommending Touchdown H & C for your HVAC project, whether planned in advance, or in an emergency."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

The best way to save money on HVAC repairs is by regularly having your system inspected and maintained. This can prevent bigger problems and costly repairs and replacements in the future. It’s also smart to buy quality equipment and hire companies that provide warranties on equipment and labor. If you need repairs, you may be able to save money by cashing in on rebates and incentives or keeping the area around your HVAC unit clear to shorten the time your contractor needs to spend in your home.

You should flush your AC drain line once every three months to keep it clear of debris and buildup. Keeping your AC drain line clean prevents clogs, backups, mold growth, and extra wear on your AC unit. If you live in a humid area or have several furry pets, up your cleaning schedule to once a month.

While you’ll pay more upfront for a brand-new HVAC unit, you can save money in the long run. Here’s how to save on your new HVAC system:

  • When purchasing a high-efficiency system, your energy bills will be lower in the future.

  • You may be eligible for special offers from your local energy company.

  • Depending on the system, you may be eligible for HVAC rebates and tax credits.

  • Choose to replace your air conditioning unit and furnace simultaneously to save on labor and installation costs.

Yes, scorpions can enter a home through AC vents, especially if the system is not well-sealed. As excellent climbers, they can scale a home's exterior and squeeze through gaps as small as 1/16 of an inch. Scorpions are often attracted to the moisture around air conditioning ducts or seek cooler areas during hot weather, using vents as a pathway inside. They may slip through small openings where the duct meets the vent cover and travel within walls before emerging. To prevent this, inspect your vents, seal any gaps, and consider installing fine mesh screens.

When a compressor gets overheated in central air systems or heat pumps, it can still cool your home for a while until it eventually gives out. If the compressor is chronically overheated and no one addresses the root cause, it will create an incredibly expensive problem when your entire HVAC system breaks down and stops working altogether.
