"I received a phone call from Jake that was prompt, honest, and professional. He took time understand my boiler issue and offer options. There was no pressure to purchase, and while I completed the project myself , I would think of Premier as my first call for HVAC issues in the future."

"It went great. Two guys came for the job, I didn't get their names. They explained that they had trouble finding the issue for the living room outlet because a lot of the wiring in my house wasn't done correctly. Eventually they figured out the issue, corrected it and also showed me what the issue was and explained it for me so I could understand. They also offered to fix a separate issue that was found outside (while trying to figure out the outlet problem) but explained that it would be costly. I appreciated this because we discussed the merits of the work, whether it needed to be done, etc. They didn't try to convince me to have anything done I couldn't afford while also making sure that the wiring was safe and not a danger. As for the outlet upstairs, this was also explained to me why the second floor was receiving the power that it was. We discussed options and they ended up replacing the GFCI because a) it was extremely old and b) the reset button didn't even work anymore. I do feel the service was expensive because they were only there for 1.25 hours but, at the same time, I don't have experience in what electricians cost and I would rather pay more and feel safe than get a cheap price. When I asked another homeowner friend, they agreed. They thought the price was fair."

"Called me before they arrived. Utmost professionalism throughout the time the technician arrived at my house until he left. Discussed what he was going to do before he did it. Cleaned up after himself and gave me pointers to avoid clogs in the future. Price a little on the steep side, but here again, you get what you pay for. Overall very happy and will use again.

"Touchdown Heating & Cooling was great! My furnace broke on Thursday night, so I called for a quote on Friday afternoon, thinking that I might be able to have them take a look sometime on the weekend. They initially scheduled me for Saturday afternoon, but I got a call later saying that they were in the area and could swing by that same day (Friday). Chris, the owner, and Austin came by, took a look, and got me a quote for a repair, a basic replacement, and a deluxe replacement. My wife and I called around 9:00 that evening, requesting the basic replacement, and they were able to get it done by early Saturday afternoon. Chris and Austin were total professionals from start to finish. No bs, completely up front in the evaluation of the problem and in laying out our options. They quoted, we signed, and then they executed perfectly. I have no reservations in whole-heartedly recommending Touchdown H & C for your HVAC project, whether planned in advance, or in an emergency."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Replacing both an AC and a furnace takes a full day on average, ranging from eight to 12 hours. The process involves removing the old units, installing the new ones, and ensuring all connections are properly made. If both systems are being replaced simultaneously, it can take longer than installing a furnace alone, so plan accordingly.

Yes. It's normal for the AC compressor to cycle on and off intermittently in dry mode as it maintains the desired humidity level. The compressor cycles to prevent over-dehumidification and to maintain a comfortable indoor environment. This cycling behavior ensures efficient operation and optimal humidity control, contributing to the overall effectiveness of the dry mode function in your AC system.

Dry mode positively impacts indoor air quality by reducing excess moisture, which stops the growth of mold and mildew. By maintaining optimal humidity levels, dry mode creates a less hospitable environment for allergens and airborne pathogens, improving overall air quality. However, it's essential to ensure proper ventilation to prevent stale air accumulation.

There are a few ways to reduce your electricity bills if you use window AC units to keep cool. Set the unit temperature at least 1 degree higher than it is currently to reduce costs. Keep the unit clean for it to run efficiently. You may want to hire a window AC specialist near you to inspect the unit once a year and keep it in tip-top shape.

It is normal for the attic to be hotter than the rest of the house in the summer, but only by about 10 or 20 degrees. Attics that aren’t properly insulated or ventilated can reach temperatures of 130 degrees or more which can cause damage to the home’s structure, including the roof, wood framing, and HVAC system.
