Bob was the first to reach out to our urgent need of an extension and completely update the existing driveway before winter hit. He came out next day took some measurements we talked about a plan and how we wanted the driveway pitched to the street. Bob Made us feel comfortable talking with him and we felt confident in hiring him.He also is a huge dog lover!... Crew arrived next day 8:40 right before 9 to start paving. Whole crew was fast and efficient. Nice guys and we're very professional. You can tell Bob takes his job serious along working with his son. "I’m so happy with the job the guys did. I had to have two tree stumps ground out before the work could be done. The tree stump guys broke my fence gate, and turns out they left one stump in the ground which I couldn’t see under the mess they left. Jason and his crew were able to get the stump out, remove an old slate patio, and create a beautiful new extended patio for me. I had jokingly pointed out a pile of slate chips in my backyard that were an eyesore. When they finished up that day, I saw that Jason had pushed down the pile of chips so they are no longer visible from my yard, and they fixed my fence gate! Such nice guys, all of them. Thank you for my beautiful patio!"

"I had Countywide Paving pave my driveway, and unfortunately, the experience has been nothing short of a nightmare. The craftsmanship was laughable. It was evident that little care or attention to detail was put into the job. Not only did this compromise the aesthetic appeal of my property, but it also raised concerns about the longevity and durability of the driveway. After two years, the sides of the driveway began to crumble and fall apart. Large cracks began to form near the middle and pieces of the driveway have since come off. I reached out to Brian for help, because he guaranteed that the driveway would be under warranty for 5 years. Brian initially responded and told me he would fix the driveway, no problem. He took down my information and said that he would get right back to me. Well that was over a year ago. My calls went unanswered, and text messages ignored. It has been incredibly frustrating to be left in the dark, especially considering the substantial investment I made in their services. Overall, my experience with Countywide Paving was deeply disappointing. Their lack of professionalism, coupled with subpar workmanship and poor communication, left me feeling cheated and dissatisfied. In most cases, you don’t need a permit to repave your driveway, although some exceptions exist. If you’re widening your driveway and plan on widening the apron as well, you’ll usually need a permit from the Department of Transportation in your area. This permit costs between $50 and $300 in most cases. Most municipalities will also require a certified and insured contractor do the work relating to the apron and curb cut. You can contact your building department or ask your paving company if you need a permit. Your driveway professional will usually pull the permit for you.

Building a road on a slope requires careful planning and will normally require a drainage system underneath to prevent flooding and damage to the road over time. Your professional may lengthen your road to create switchbacks if the slope directly to your home is too steep, as there are regulations for maximum road slope. The drainage system will help prevent runoff from the higher side of the slope from damaging the asphalt or concrete. Keep in mind that building a road on a slope isn’t a good DIY project, as a lot can go wrong.

Gravel driveways last the longest. With proper installation and routine maintenance, they can last upwards of 100 years. To make sure they last as long as possible, gravel driveways should be properly graded and leveled during installation and repair. The natural material is extremely durable, but the grooves make it challenging to remove snow and easy for weeds to grow through the cracks. Compared to a 10x20 concrete driveway costing between $800 and $3,000, a resin bound driveway of the same size costing $3,900 to $4,000 is the more expensive option. However, the cost still makes resin a cheaper option compared to a 10x20 paver driveway costing an average of $12,000.

The material that’s best for your private road depends on your property, the climate in your area, and your personal preferences. Gravel is an affordable option, but some homeowners don’t like how it looks. It can be a pain to remove snow from, and it requires more ongoing maintenance than asphalt or concrete. However, while these other options require less maintenance and make snow removal a breeze, they’re more expensive and will need repairs from time to time. Ultimately, you’ll have to choose the road material that suits you and your property best.
