Customers say: Quality work

"We highly recommend B.W. Earp, Inc. We had them apply exterior insulation around our entire home, do a gray coat with mesh, and stucco. Because of the added 2’’ on the exterior they had the added task of building out the window sills and did a wonderful job. Their overall workmanship was excellent from start to finish. Our home looks Beautiful! They are a very knowledgeable and professional company. Our project was done in a timely manner, no unexpected delays. The crews were very experienced, and they cleaned up every day when they were finished. After the project was complete, a representative came by on numerous occasions to check how well the stucco was curing, and misted the house as needed. It was great working with them. We are very appreciative of the fantastic job they did for us! Thanks to all at B.W. Earp, Inc.!"

"My stucco was in bad shape and the parapets were leaking. I did my research to find a reputable stucco company and Terrapin Stucco stood above the rest. The service and attention to detail started with the first phone call. They explained every step in detail and quickly scheduled our home for stucco. I’m soooo pleased with their quality of work and quick responses to all my questions. I worked with Ben and Antonio. They are very polite, respectful and patient. I’m grateful that I found them and they made this project as painless as possible."

"My house had a scar in the stucco from where an old porch was removed. Western Wall Finishes was great to work with. I had spoken with a couple other stucco companies that would only stucco the entire house. Western Wall Finishes matched the existing stucco perfectly. They were very friendly to work with. They even painted some damaged stucco on an entirely different wall without being asked. Highly recommended."

"I cannot say enough positive things about Sergio Duran and Duran Plastering, Inc.! We recently moved into a stucco house that was built in 1999, and it has a stucco fence surrounding the front courtyard and the backyard area. OVer the years, the stucco had deteriorated, and there were several places on the house that needed repair, and the fence needed extensive repair. I obtained several bids to fix the problems, and Duran Plastering was the best bid; in addition, I had seen the great work that Duran had done on another project in our neighborhood, so I felt confident in selecting them. They repaired the fencing, and then they put a new coat of stucco over every square foot of the fence. Before they began, they dug down to the below ground level until they had access to where the bottom of the fence began. They then pressure-washed the fence and let it dry before applying stucco. They then repaired the bad spots on the house, let the repair sit for a couple of days to dry, and then they stuccoed the repaired areas. They also went on top of our house and repaired and restuccoed the many cracks we had in our parapets. The stucco color they used matched the existing stucco perfectly! The fence and the house look wonderful! The crew spent a substantial amount of time cleaning up after they finished the stuccoing, and they put everything back where it was before--which was a very big task! The crew that Duran uses is great! The guys are courteous, pleasant, and seek to please. They also went over and beyond to ensure that we were satisfied with the project. On top of everything else, there is a 5.5 year warranty on the project; thus, if there are cracks or bad places that surface, they will fix them without additional cost during that time period. I accepted their bid on a Monday about midday, and they started the project the next morning! They worked their tails off and finished by the end of the week, even though there was a day they couldn't work due to bad weather. In addition to Sergio and his crew being top-flight, Cristal, Sergio's wife and office manager, kept me apprised of their schedule and answered questions I had of her. She was great, too! Duran Plastering has my highest recommendation! I guarantee that they will do a superb job for you!!"

"My home had a previous bad stucco job so it needed repair, re stucco, and re painted. The owner came over and explained the previous stucco problems and what he needed to do to correct it and continue the stucco. A year and half later the stucco is still looking brand new. My neighbors complemented it and another person across the street in another neighborhood drove over to my house and wanted the contact information of this company for his house. A+++ job! My house looks great!"

"Hector Junior was very friendly and fair and did a great job with the stucco repairs. We had damage from birds and water in a few places around the house; we didn’t need to replace all of the stucco, but needed someone who could patch it in the damaged areas. Rio Grande L&P was also willing to work in the East Mountains, which also makes them stand out. I will use them again in the future for any stucco issues that pop up."

Stucco questions, answered by experts

The cost to replace the chimney crown or top is about $1,550 on average. The range varies widely depending on the size of the chimney, the materials used, accessibility, and the extent of the damage. If you suspect a problem with your chimney top, call a professional masonry contractor for an inspection.

It’s not advisable to use CLR on stucco. CLR is a powerful acidic cleaner designed for removing tough mineral stains. Stucco is a porous material commonly made of cement, lime, and sand. The acidic nature of CLR can potentially damage or etch the stucco surface, leading to discoloration or deterioration.

It is best to use cleaning solutions specifically formulated for stucco or mild household cleaners mixed with water to clean stucco siding. Always test any cleaning product in a small, inconspicuous area before applying it to the entire stucco surface.

The decision to repair or replace stucco depends on the extent of the damage. For minor issues like small cracks, holes, dirt, stains, or discoloration, a repair is typically sufficient and more cost-effective. These issues can often be resolved with a simple repair, a deep clean, and possibly a new coat of paint. However, for more significant problems such as large cracks, peeling, mold, algae, or structural water damage, a replacement might be necessary. In these cases, it is best to call a professional stucco contractor for an inspection. An expert can assess the severity of the damage, determine if there are deeper issues, and advise whether a repair is adequate or if replacing a section or an entire wall is the more cost-effective, long-term solution.

Stucco repair can best be described as a patch. It involves identifying the problem and fixing that specific damage with additional stucco. If no mold infiltration or an underlying leak is causing the damage, repair is most likely all you need.

Remediation, on the other hand, involves removing the existing siding, fixing the underlying cause of the damage, and then reapplying stucco siding for that wall. It’s a more permanent fix that takes longer to complete and, hence, comes with a steeper price tag than repair.

Stucco applied over brick can last 30 to 50 years or more when correctly applied and properly maintained. Stucco’s lifespan can be shortened by improper application, incorrectly mixed material, lack of preparation before application, and lack of maintenance. To get the most life out of your stucco siding, keep up with maintenance and repair any damage as soon as you discover it.
