Customers say: True professional

"Micah is a wizard with plaster color and texture. He fixed our Variance plaster, matching it perfectly. He was punctual, professional, and did an amazing job fixing our rotunda, which is the showcase of our residence. We had been told that there was no way to match the texture and color and we would have to pay thousands of dollars to replanted the entire rotunda. Micah was able to fix everything for a fraction of the cost. We highly recommend Illusions for any work of this type."

"I have never worked with a contractor so dedicated to excellence and customer service. Victor built a gorgeous trex deck that is just extraordinary. The workmanship is above and beyond anyone we have ever worked with. We plan on doing many more improvements on our home simply because Victor and his team are superb. His pool of talent is amazing. We will start more projects including a fountain in our courtyard, and additional Diamond finish plaster in our living room."

"The crew showed up every morning on time. They patched/drywalled and textured numerous small areas. The texturing was so good, that it is almost impossible to detect where the repairs where made. They also framed, drywalled and textured the kitchen area for recessed lighting installation. They repaired an area where there was a shower leak. They replaced the drywall and textured an area where a closet had been removed. On every part of the project, they exhibited superior workmanship. And at the end of every day, they cleaned up after themselves. Hire them again? Definitely yes!

"After reading some reviews on Angi I choose Elevare Builders to repair hole in my garage ceiling caused by a leaking canale. On 4/22 I requested a quote through the Angi website and within a hour got a follow up call from Liz at Elevare. Since it was a small job, I offered to text Liz some pictures so I could get an estimate of the work I needed done. After reviewing the pictures, Liz texted back an estimate the next morning which I accepted and scheduled the repair for 4/25 between 07:00 and 08:00. On 4/25 the tech, Ruben, arrived 08:00 and began work, which took about an hour, and when he finished it looked like the leak never happened. His work was excellent. I would definitely recommend Elevare. Liz gave great costumer support, Ruben arrived at the appointed time, and the work was done quickly and efficiently. Elevare did a wonderful job."

Plaster Repair questions, answered by experts

Proper maintenance requires inspecting your walls every fall and spring to catch cracks before freeze-thaw cycles worsen them. Traditional mud plaster repair demands re-coating every one to three years. Keep your roof and drainage spouts clear, as blocked drains cause severe damage to Santa Fe adobe homes. Monitor your surfaces for bubbling after the summer monsoons, and always apply compatible earthen or lime materials for historic properties.

Helpful?

A standard three-coat plaster repair on a traditional adobe wall takes three to seven days. While NM’s arid climate helps materials dry faster, seasonal weather heavily impacts timelines. Book your project between April and June or in October to avoid summer monsoons and winter freezes. If your property sits in a historic district, expect the required design review approvals to add several weeks to your overall schedule.

Helpful?

To keep your family safe during plaster repair, seal off all work areas from your living spaces. Santa Fe's dry climate causes fine silica dust from traditional earthen materials to spread rapidly. For homes built before 1978, hire certified specialists to manage serious lead exposure risks. Schedule your project during the spring or fall to allow for safe, natural ventilation without exposing your home to freezing winter temperatures.

Helpful?

Prioritize exterior parapet and roof-wall junction fixes to prevent severe interior water damage. Next, address any radiating cracks around window and door frames caused by seasonal freeze-thaw cycles. Inspect north-facing exterior walls, as they retain moisture longer in NM and degrade faster. Always consult the local historic preservation office before starting plaster repair to ensure you use compatible materials that protect your home's structural integrity.

Helpful?

Homes built before 1970 with adobe or rammed earth construction are excellent candidates for plaster repair. Inspect your walls for horizontal cracks near windows, white salt deposits, or soft spots on north-facing exteriors. If you own a historic property in Santa Fe, preservation guidelines actually require traditional material restoration rather than modern drywall replacement. Check your baseboards for peeling finishes, as this indicates moisture intrusion requiring immediate attention.
