The old peeling painted surfaces were expertly and seamlessly repaired. Shai's workman was an artist, hand-mixing the materials to match exactly the old surfaces, so it all looks like new. The water damage was a longer and more complicated process, involving assessment of water still within the wall (yes), asbestos testing ( positive), and abatement, all before Above & Beyond could start work. When they did, it went as smoothly as possible:The men moved all my bedroom furniture, which includes heavy 250-year-old chests, took down 10-foot-tall curtains and pelmets: scraped and evened out the cement floor, adding a coat of cement, replacing insulation and drywall, installing LVT flooring, and painting. Then they replaced all the furniture. Shai, himself, is professional, experienced, and knowledgeable. These traits filter down to his crews. Everything went as he said, on schedule, with no drama and no fuss. Moreover, when the insurance company was slow in sending the check, he was very understanding, and assured me he would hold my credit card information until the check came in. I cannot praise this company, and the owner, highly enough. Both experiences with them have been a real pleasure - even with my bedroom sitting in the rest of the house! Shai's quiet competence and managerial abilities filter down to his work crew, making everything transparent, smoothly predictable, and very well done. The results have been outstanding, and if I win a lottery, I will hire them again, to redo the whole house!

The flooring portion (2 bedrooms, closets and a hall area) went well. The labor was done by a subcontractor who did an excellent job. We were, however, charged a hefty back-charge without prior approval and absolutely no documentation from the sub. The small hall bathroom was completely gutted. The contractor, AAB, had many weeks to finalize their price, but still ended adding numerous extra charges for conditions that should have been expected or tasks that should have been included. Some extras were requested. One extra was approved at an estimated cost of $800 to $1000; we were charged $1650 for that item. AAB used a licensed electrician, but all the other (non-floor) work was done by a "jack of all trades". He was very skilled at most tasks, but not, for example, at painting. We were charged for painting that should have been included and for some extras at $75/hr - much more we would expect a painting pro to charge for poor quality work. AAB had to come back for corrections after completion. Much of this stemmed from, as we perceived it, the worker being pressured by the AAB owner to rush to finish. Many quality issues remain because we just did not want to deal with going back to request corrections. Sadly, as we found out too late, AAB's philosophy is "Low-ball and Back-charge". We would have been happy to pay a higher price up front, had AAB included some contingency money in their estimate as most reputable contractors would do.

"We did not low-ball our estimate. We never do. We strive to offer exceptional value, not necessarily the lowest price. The Owners received excellent service. They also requested many add-ons after the job started. We were happy to accommodate them and we let them know what those add-ons would cost. In many of those cases we threw in items at either a very symbolic cost or no cost at all. I'm guessing the Owner misinterpreted our fairness and generosity to mean they could get work done for free and was disappointed to find out that was not the case. I am disappointed he chose to deal with it by writing an unfair, inaccurate and vindictive review - especially because we did so much additional work at either our cost or near our cost. Fortunately, the majority of our clients are reasonable and are a pleasure to deal with, but I guess there are some people that you just can't please. I wish the Owner good luck in their future endeavors"

My home had a previous bad stucco job so it needed repair, re stucco, and re painted. The owner came over and explained the previous stucco problems and what he needed to do to correct it and continue the stucco. A year and half later the stucco is still looking brand new. My neighbors complemented it and another person across the street in another neighborhood drove over to my house and wanted the contact information of this company for his house. A+++ job! My house looks great!

Superior work by a superior stucco craftsman (Nelson). Competitive pricing and all work was done exactly as scheduled. Nelson kept everything super neat over the two day project and was extremely professional. I highly recommend this company! I rated responsiveness as fair because I was frustrated by the process to get the estimate so I mention that to encourage you not to give up (I almost did) if that takes a while. Based on Angie's List reviews, I had initially recommended that a friend contact this company for stucco maintenance. That work was done beautifully and they made it happen to fit my friend's short time line. When I called them about my own home I did not hear back within a reasonable time to schedule the estimate. Then they came to look at the work needed and once more I had to reach out a couple weeks later to finally get the price and schedule the work. I believe the owner stays personally involved in the jobs (which is good) and that's the reason. My advice: if you experience something similar just be proactive but don't let that prevent you from hiring this company. The highest quality work, fair pricing and a "good guy" owner who delivered.

Shai was gracious, friendly and professional. He worked patiently with me as I went yhrough all my waffling. He provided options and advice but allowed me to choose what I wanted. The end product exceeded my wildest dreams. The room is gorgeous! I am anxious to start decorating it. They put ceiling tile on the ceiling with trim, new hardwood floor with baseboards and painted it. I have another project in mind but I need to save up a few dollars to get it going.

Complete re-stucco on single story home with walled courtyard. 15 year old home with original bad stucco job which was beginning to fail. Couldn't be happier and house looks great. All hand applied and can really tell the difference. Crew was wonderful and really cleaned up with no debris left. Will call these guys again for other home repairs. Very reasonable price for quality job well done.

Shai and the folks at Above and Beyond Home Improvement were top-notch: excellent work ethic, punctual, hard-working, and very attentive to detail. Luis, the foreman, walked me through everything they were doing. He invited me up to the roof at the end of each day to show me what they had done and provided photos of the various stages of their work. The crew cleaned up at the end of each day, as best they could, and when they were all done, our yard was probably cleaner than it had been. The price made me catch my breath initially (more than I've ever spent in my life!), but it was fair and comparable to our other estimates, even a bit lower. And when I consider the cost of the materials, the labor, and the various people who had to be paid, I think the price was very fair indeed. They did, after all, completely remove our old roof and give us a new one. Most importantly, they did quality work and cut no corners. The whole job took around 10 days, which I thought was very reasonable. I give Above and Beyond Home Improvement my highest recommendation.

A+ Excellent job - A+. Project review and completion very professional. Crew cleaned up daily before leaving. Foreman extremely knowledgeable of working with and repairing stucco. Stucco color was match to the existing color of our home with very little variance in color. Work order was the entire front stucco wall enclosing the front of our home - inside and out, patch and repair areas needed on the front and back of our home, and patch and repair areas on the stucco wall surrounding the back of our home. Highly recommend. Will used them again.

It's complicated. Shai opted to go for the restucco job during the winter when we were having a nice warm period, but that ended up being a bad move as it rained heavily that night. The stucco was washed down by the rain in various areas and the paint ended up staining my window panes. The problems start at this point, as I struggled to get the repair work done. I only wanted it to be very good work, but eventually that ended up making me push for Shai to take responsibility. They did do some of the repair work, but after feeling beaten down, I just said "yeah, it's good" in order to be free from the experience. If I didn't feel belittled by Shai, I would have stayed focused. But it's just not worth the stress to push a contractor to do very good work, because I shouldn't have to push. I am someone who has pretty high standards, but that's why I research so hard to find a good provider. This started off fine, it ended up very painful and sad. The thing that Shai is quick and thorough about is getting paid, but other elements involve unnecessary struggles (like having him watch his crew and push his crew rather than have the customer do it).

"Thank you. Our supplier did get new machines in their tint room and were going through s "learning curve", which generally did not have a huge effect on scheduling. In this case, the Owner decided to go with 3 different colors on the house, which were selected out of 5 or 6 samples. Generating all these color samples took a bit longer than usual, but I'm glad everything else worked out alright. Thank you for the business."

Very well. Thoroughly pleased with the quality of work done. Patching was very good and the house looks great! Only small complaint as that it took over a month to get the work done after initial estimate. Was not sure when work would be done until just before it started. Shi had to go out of town, but would have liked to get the work done earlier. I am very pleased with the job and would hire again.

The roof looks great and they answered all my questions and concerns promptly. All the work was done in a timely and professional manner. Unfortunately our security lamp on the garage was accidentally broken while a solar panel was being removed. They were courteous and admitted the accident and replaced it with no hesitation. I am very pleased with the work they did.

Shai was personable and knowledgeable when he came for the estimate. The stucco repair was amazing: there is no indication that the stucco was ever damaged. The painting was careful and complete with clean edges, thorough coverage, and even minor structural repairs when they came across a problem. The gutter installation looks great. All work was very professional and they left no mess when they finished. Lenny frequently checked up on the work as it progressed. We plan to use them for future work.
