Gil and his crew are awesome, our original cement stucco was cracking and in need of repair. Repairs were completed and Dryvit synthetic stucco was applied. They arrived on time every day, cleaned up the site and were very respectful and polite. Gil goes above and beyond and I would highly recommend Casa de Avila for any future projects. My house looks beautiful!! Thanks Gil!

Our exterior walls on the sunny side of our house were cracking. Casa de Avila did a great job of repairing the walls and putting a couple new coats of elastimeric on the walls. The color match was perfect. The job was completed in exactly four days as promised.

They are a rare breed. Showed up as agreed, performed high quality work and cleaned up after the project. This review platform does not allow entry of full scope of work. From concrete demo to new patio and block wall. Grading, rock work, all done on time and within budget. This won't be the last time I hire this high quality firm.

I originally hired Casa de Avila to pour a concrete patio. Along with this I mentioned to Gil I wanted to build my patio. He helped with wood and on his own time helped with the removal of the old patio. His attention to detail and timeliness are to be commended in this time. I will use his Company for all my future renovations on my house. I recommend h and his company to anyone looking for residential work.

Gil is nickel and dimer. I hired him to remodel my bathroom. I should have trusted my instincts when he refused to tell me how much he charged per square foot, but we needed to get the job done. The mold remediation company did not pull a mirror and some tile off the wall and Gil tried to charge $800 because he knew we needed it done. We finally settled on $600, which was exorbitant to pull a mirror off the wall and a backsplash of tile. He left the mirror in my driveway and said that disposal was not included and wanted another $100 to take it to the dump. I was painting and texturing the closet myself to save money, and there were small areas that needed to be textured. Gil had his guy there texturing the bathroom and said he could do it for me to save me time and wanted to charge $200. I did it myself with a spray can, which is exactly how they did it, and it literally took me 5 minutes. Then he said that he did not know who was going to install the vanities because he only contracted to install the sinks on the vanities. The following Monday, he did not show up, I texted him at 11:30 am and he said he was **just about to text me** and would show up later that afternoon. I asked him if he took another job and was trying to work both, and he was silent. He would only show up and work for at the most 5 hours a day, to begin with, but with the new job, I guess he was going to come in the afternoons only. I cannot say much about the quality of his work because he was at my home from November 10th to November 30th, and in a 300 square foot bathroom that already had been torn out, he never even got to the flooring. He basically put up four pieces of sheetrock, tape, and textured and put down the dura rock on the floors. Told me it was going to be another 2 weeks for him to tile 300 square ft of bathroom tile and tile the shower. It is extremely difficult to find good contractors in Albuquerque. They all tell you what you want to hear to get the job. Gil is no different. He kept trying to charge more, saying we had not talked about little things because I have a nice house and he was greedy. I fired him. I was not comfortable with him anymore and will have to find someone else.

"When you pay for a job , especially handcrafted, you pay not only for the material used, but also: - Knowledge - Experience - Study - Tools - Services - Time to go - Punctuality - Accountability - Professionalism - Accuracy - Guaranteed - Patents - Sacrifices - Safety and security - Payment of tax obligations No one can denigrate other people's work by judging prices. Only by knowing all the elements necessary for the production of a certain work can you estimate actual cost. I did not write this dialogue, but I am sharing it to support craftsmen and entrepreneurs."

Gil came out and listened to the details of my hot tub project. He came up with some good ideas like footers reinforced with rebar for the planned pergola posts, doing a 6” pour with wire. A 4000 psi concrete being used because of the pergola post anchoring requirements and the estimated weight of the filled hot tub at around 4,500 lbs. The day of the job a cement truck and a concrete pumping truck came and his crew was able to finish in a few hours. He came back in the evening and covered the concrete with thick blankets because the temperature was dipping below freezing that night. The job turned out professional and looks fantastic. He came out the next day to inspect and collect the blankets. His crew works clean, at all times wore masks, and friendly. I would hire again and highly recommend Gil and his company.
