"They were excellent. They quickly made a draft that only needed 3 minor adjustments. The final product was exactly what I needed. They referred me to a structural engineer for review. The whole process took half of the time that they initially estimated. I would definitely use them again."

"I hired Annex Builders LLC to build a garage including the concrete slab. The work was done very professionally and quick. Once the garage was done, Annex Builders LLC replaced the roof on my house with propanel to match the garage. Today they finished painting the garage and the entire house, including all the trim and they even stained the wood porch. The entire project was done very efficiently and the job site was always clean. Thank you for getting this project done a few days earlier than projected!"

"We had 9 companies give us estimates for a new roof before installing solar panels. We chose AGC. They were honest, competitively priced, and made us feel our job was the most important job they had. We were so impressed. Superior attention to detail. We haven’t found a nail on the ground yet and that is a testament to the guys/gals that work for them. Highly recommend them. They are also VA certified"

"I had a fantastic experience working with this drafting firm. From the very first phone call, Kirsten?our drafting consultant? was clear, professional, and incredibly helpful. She explained the entire process in detail and made sure all of my questions were answered up front, which gave me immediate confidence in the team. This firm partnered with engineers and architects to get the best quote for me on a stamp for my plans after they did an exceptional job on drawing the prints that met all the requirements for permitting. Their coordination and attention to detail made the process very simple on my end. If you are looking for a highly capable drafting firm that knows how to get things done right, I highly recommend them!"

Structural Engineering questions, answered by experts

In Santa Fe, be cautious if a professional lacks experience with adobe, hillside lots, or local soil conditions. Red flags include vague project scopes, skipping on-site evaluations, or not addressing permit requirements. Reliable experts should provide detailed written contracts, proof of insurance, and local references. Clear communication about structural inspection processes and understanding of historic district needs are also essential.

Helpful?

In Santa Fe, foundations are especially vulnerable due to expansive soils and hillside construction. Flat or low-slope roofs with vigas often face snow load problems, while adobe and masonry walls can deteriorate from repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Timber framing may split in the arid climate, and retaining walls on sloped lots frequently require reinforcement to address drainage and frost heave concerns.

Helpful?

In Santa Fe, overwatering near the foundation, allowing sprinklers to hit adobe walls, or neglecting regular re-plastering can invite moisture damage. Ignoring small cracks, using power washers on exterior walls, or planting large trees too close to the house can worsen structural issues. Avoid storing heavy items against foundations and making unapproved DIY changes to load-bearing elements.

Helpful?

In Santa Fe, act immediately if you see signs like foundation erosion, roof sagging that threatens collapse, or major cracks in load-bearing adobe walls—especially after severe weather. If you notice minor settling or hairline cracks, monitor them through seasonal changes. Schedule non-urgent work for dry months, and always consider local historic district guidelines or unique material needs before delaying any project.

Helpful?

In Santa Fe, schedule a structural inspection if you notice cracks in adobe walls wider than 1/4 inch, sagging rooflines after heavy snow, or shifting foundations following freeze-thaw cycles. Watch for new gaps at vigas, sticking doors after storms, or uneven floors—especially after monsoon rains. These signs often indicate underlying home stability issues that require prompt evaluation by a structural engineer.
