"These guys worked hard for four days in the merciless heat of New Mexico to install a sprinkler system in my large backyard and Repair, the one in the front front yard. They did a very good job and their price was reasonable. I can highly recommend them."

"I loved this company for their no-nonsense and friendly attitude. They told me exactly what needed to be done, what else I might need to pay for and after the service, what future repairs might need to be done but were not necessary at the moment. Total cost was 25% of other quotes I received! Additionally, they showed up when they said they would - both for the quote and the work. Awesome service!"

"After I was unable to get a response from Route 66 Plumbing for warranty work, I went to Angie's List and found Wilson Water Works with good reviews.  I soon got a call back from Leland, and after he realized my situation, gave me other references for the quick service I needed.  The plumber I used fixed a leaking shutoff valve in the yard the next afternoon, and charged a very reasonable rate.

Boiler Repair questions, answered by experts

Boilers provide even heating, energy efficiency, and a quiet operation compared to forced air systems.

The average cost for HVAC repairs is approximately $350. However, prices can range from as low as $100 to as high as $3,000 or more, depending on the type of repair and the extent of the damage. For example, a relatively inexpensive capacitor replacement may cost $100 to $500, while a major compressor repair can range from $750 to $2,000. Other common repairs and their typical costs include:

  • Blower motor repair: $200–$500

  • Circuit board repairs: $100–$600

  • Evaporator or condenser coil repair: $400–$1,500

  • Heat exchanger repair: $100–$200

  • Thermostat repair: $175

Chilled water HVAC systems use water instead of traditional components and refrigerants. They're more common in commercial settings than residential ones but are slowly being adopted by some homebuilders to cool homes. As the name implies, the system keeps the water chilled at 40 degrees and circulates it through water coils. The water absorbs the heat from your home and drains outdoors. Condo apartments are more likely to have chilled water HVAC than single-family homes because this system is designed to cool several rooms or large areas individually.

Scale from hard water is hard to diagnose until it starts causing problems. If your area has particularly hard water, that’s most likely what your boiler is using. If scale build-up becomes a problem, it starts to cause decreased flow and heating, and eventually, valve failures as valves become blocked. Let boiler professionals know if you’re worried about scale and they can offer advice or implement a solution.

To bleed a radiator, first turn off the heat to the system. Then, lay a towel under the valve, open the bleed valve, wait 20 to 30 seconds for air to escape, and gently close the valve. You should repeat this process for every radiator you have in your home. Once your radiator valves have all been closed carefully, you can turn them back on.
