"Victor was excellent and very responsive to deal with throughout the entire project. He met us to look at paver options at a local supplier and made creative, thoughtful improvements to the patio design we were considering. I felt 100% comfortable with him and his crew and would definitely use them again. We were extremely pleased with the vast majority of the work. The stairs down from our back door were completed while we were out of town and there was a substitution made for the border block that we would have preferred to avoid. But the main field and another step down to a back gate were even better than we anticipated and we are overall very happy with the project and his ideas for it. Victor went out of his way with little extras like rerouting our gutters and laying a conduit pipe for future electrical runs, removing and disposing of the ledger board from the old deck we tore out, and even fixing up some deep trenches some random unaffiliated truck had left near the front of our property. We would and have recommended him to friends."

Fireplaces questions, answered by experts

No, because they burn propane or natural gas, gas fireplaces do not generate ash like wood-burning fireplaces. However, gas fireplaces require maintenance, such as cleaning the glass doors, checking for debris in the burner or vents, and ensuring the logs or glass stones are in place. This maintenance ensures that the fireplace continues to operate efficiently and safely.

In most cases, you should have your chimney cleaned and inspected once a year. Since different materials and conditions can cause creosote to build up at different rates, there might be times when you need to sweep your chimney more frequently. An annual inspection will help you determine if more frequent cleaning is necessary.

Some homes with wood-burning fireplaces don't have ash pits due to design choices, construction practices, or the age of the house. Many older abodes don't have them because ash pits weren't a standard feature when they were built. Additionally, in smaller homes or homes with less frequent fireplace use, builders might have opted to forgo an ash pit to reduce costs or simplify maintenance.

It’s best to install a wood-burning stove in a central location on the ground floor of your home. For many people, this means putting it in the living room. It also makes sense to install a wood stove in your living room if it has a working chimney that you can use to vent the stove’s exhaust.

To burn garden waste, you can use a dug-out burn pit lined with stone or brick, a burn barrel, or a garden incinerator. If using a burn barrel, make sure it's made entirely of metal and properly equipped with screened vents and a metal top screen. Garden incinerators are designed for waste burning and should be operated according to the manufacturer's instructions.
