"There was almost an immediate response to our request for a plumber for valve work in our basement. Through a phone call and texting of pictures Titan was able to determine the problem and the parts needed to make the repair. At 7:05 the next morning (after plumbing supplier opened)we received a phone call with an estimate. Within 45 minutes the two workers were at our house and 20 minutes later the problem had been corrected. We are very pleased and thankful for their efficient, professional, and friendly service. We know they fit us into their busy schedule. We certainly recommend Titan to others!"

"Erik came on time. I appreciated that before starting he reviewed the quote with me, so that I knew upfront how much I was going to pay, My problem was a clogged kitchen sink drain. Erik managed to fix the issue even though the clog was quite far in the pipe. I would hire him again."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

Functional plumbing repairs require official permits and municipal inspections, creating a strict timeline. Cosmetic updates avoid these steps entirely. Opening walls for functional work in historic Plainfield homes also introduces the risk of disturbing lead paint or asbestos. Functional failures carry extreme urgency during freezing winter months, while cosmetic projects offer the flexibility to schedule work during off-peak seasons.

Helpful?

You must authorize any required plumbing permits before work begins. For projects involving the water service line from the street, you will interact directly with the local utility authority to coordinate shutoffs. In older NJ homes, opening walls exposes deteriorating pipes. You must decide whether to address only the immediate problem or authorize a complete repiping to ensure long-term safety.

Helpful?

Always verify that your contractor holds a valid state license and carries proper liability insurance. Hire professionals with extensive experience working on older Plainfield homes, as they understand the complexities of outdated pipe systems and historic construction methods. Ask the contractor directly about their familiarity with local utility inspection procedures, ensuring they know how to handle water service lines correctly.

Helpful?

In older Plainfield homes, water stains on walls or ceilings point to roof deterioration rather than plumbing leaks. Basement water near floor drains indicates a need for waterproofing due to clay-heavy soil pressure. Before hiring a professional, contact the local utility authority to determine if sewer odors or slow drains exist on the public side of the system.

Helpful?

Contact the local utility authority early to coordinate any necessary water shutoffs. Obtain all required permits before starting the project and proactively schedule inspections to avoid delays. Have your contractor assess the condition of existing pipes in older NJ homes to prevent unexpected scope changes. Finally, plan non-urgent plumbing updates for the spring or fall to avoid winter freeze-thaw emergencies.
