"Daniel was a life saver! I had what I thought was a simple clogged kitchen sink but it turned into a 4 1/2 hour drain journey. Daniel quoted me a reasonable price and that is exactly what I paid no more no less. He was knowledgeable, professional, focused and determined to rectify the issue. It was a great experience and I am so happy I found him. I will definitely be calling him for any future plumbing work I have. I will also be recommending him to family and friends...Finding a great plumber with integrity and who is honest is hard to find but Daniel is one in a million!!!"

"From my first contact with Continental Plumbing I received professional and courteous care. They were the third or fourth company I had called, but by far the best in their systems and process. They responded to me quickly, followed up timely, gave me a fair and comparable estimate and performed the job as needed. Their invoice was very detailed and they guaranteed their work in writing, also sending me the plumber's license upon request. At every step of the way I was informed on the process. I had a gas leak and PSEG shut off the gas into the house so that I could fix it. I got bids from two companies (the price from both was almost identical), one of which was Continental, and both told me that the pipes were so old I should just replace the entire gas line rather than seek the leak foot by foot. Continental is also one of the cleanest contracting company I've worked with in the 15 years I have had my home. They protected my belongings before starting and cleaned up well. I documented with before and after photos as they progressed and they didn't mind at all. Also, it must be said, I had this work done while we're still under many COVID-19 regulations. They worked all day in their masks and that didn't hinder them at all from doing a job well done. They went above and beyond. They will be my go-to plumber for anything in my house going forward. PSEG just left and did their reinspection and all is good and their work passed inspection. My gas has been turned back on. I truly appreciate the work they put in and I'm glad I found them. They treated me like a customer that mattered and not like a number or dollar sign. They made a stressful situation better and kept my stress from escalating. Thanks Continental!"

"Fast, Clean, Efficient, Feasible! This is an easy review to write when you have a professional on the job. Titan Plumbing Sewer & Drain was on site ready to swap out our old tank and install the new one. Also, was aware of new housing codes and installed an Expansion Tank. He could of easily changed the thermocouple just to get by but did not recommend doing so on a 10+ unit. Do it right once and call Titan Plumbing Sewer & Drain. We were so happy with their service! Easy to recommend them"

Customers say: Quality work

"Don't hesitate to hire Mike MacGregor. He's excellent. We had a gas leak in a fireplace valve that was inaccessible behind a cabinet wall. We called every plumber Home Advisor recommended AND several fireplace companies (including the one that installed the fireplace). No one, except Mike, was willing to take the job or to assist us in getting access to the fireplace. When we finally gained access, Mike came with a new valve but discovered that it didn't actually need to be replaced. What honesty? He fixed the valve (saving us the cost of the replacement) and charged us a very, very reasonable price for all his work. Thank you Mike. We will definitely call again when we need a plumber."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

In Summit, plumbing requires specific seasonal upkeep to handle cold winters and spring rains. Prevent pipe freezes by insulating lines in older basements and exterior walls. Winterize outdoor hose bibs before November. You must also test sump pumps every spring to manage heavy rainfall. Because local water contains moderate minerals, flush your water heater regularly to clear sediment. Inspect older clay or cast iron sewer lines for tree root intrusion.

Helpful?

A major mistake during plumbing work in Summit is skipping mandatory permits for fixture or water heater replacements. Homeowners also damage aging galvanized steel or cast iron pipes by attempting partial repairs that break fragile adjacent sections. Failing to shut off and drain outdoor hose bibs before freezing temperatures arrive causes burst pipes. Additionally, performing spot repairs on sewer lines fails to address severe tree root blockages spreading throughout the system.

Helpful?

Start by locating your main water shutoff valve in the basement to stop flow during emergencies. For dripping faucets or running toilets, shut off the individual fixture’s supply valve. Clear slow drains with a plunger or snake, and avoid chemical cleaners that destroy older cast iron pipes in Summit. If pipes freeze, turn up your interior heat and avoid open flames. Never attempt temporary DIY repairs on systems requiring permits.

Helpful?

Completing plumbing projects in NJ depends on the scope of work and local permit processing. Minor repairs and water heater replacements take one to three days, including mandatory inspections. Repiping a kitchen or bathroom takes three to seven days. Full house repiping or sewer lateral replacements require one to three weeks. Schedule non-emergency work during spring or summer, as late fall and winter freeze emergencies significantly extend professional wait times.

Helpful?

Sewer lateral connections and water service line entry points require exact material matching to meet NJ standards. Plumbing in unheated spaces demands proper insulation and drainage slopes to prevent severe freeze damage. Sump pump discharge lines must route water safely away from the foundation without entering the sanitary sewer. Gas line connections for water heaters carry serious safety hazards and require a licensed professional to ensure a secure, code-compliant installation.
