"He was our third plumber who tried to unclog the drain. He had the right tools and saved our bacon. We had been two days without a kitchen sink! We could not have had a better experience!"

"I would give them more than 5 stars if I could, Jimmy and his team were quick, clean, and professional. I would hire them for every repair in the house if they did more than plumbing. :)"

"Jimmy is a great guy! He addressed two leaks on the drain pipe, one at the toilet ring and another one in the laundry (split level home). In terms of price, it was fair. I could have gone with a cheaper route but perhaps not the quality work that Jimmy did for me. He even installed a new toilet valve at no cost! Thanks Jimmy!"

"Excellent service. Within 2 hrs of the call Jacob arrived, checked the pipe in the basement connected to the clogged kitchen sink. Under the sink he checked the disposal. He then gave me a price. I thought it fair and agreed to have him fix the problem. About 20 mins later he broke thru the clog. I was so happy that my emergency was no more. I recommend without hesitation Freedom Mechanical. Very good and friendly service. And fair price."

"We needed to repair a 15-year-old toilet. After Rojas looked at it, they recommended a new one be installed instead of repairing the old one. Sound advice, so we did it. Leaks have stopped from the old and everything is good so far"

Toilets questions, answered by experts

Your toilet handle might not come back up if the nut is loose or the bolt threads are stripped. Try to tighten the mounting nut and wrap plumber’s tape around the handle bolt to fix stripped threads. It’s possible the handle was improperly installed. If that’s the case, you can use the instructions above to correct the handle’s position.

Left unattended, a leaking toilet will eventually cause water damage or mold growth. If you’re a homeowner, you can file an insurance claim for water damage. However, that can be a long and tedious process; sometimes, your insurance company may not cover the damage. Therefore, it’s always best to fix any leak you notice right away if you can.

Yes, you can have a toilet without a septic tank. However, it will have to be a composting toilet. Composting toilets work similarly to aerobic septic systems in that the waste, which sits in a separate compartment below the toilet itself, is slowly broken down by aerobic bacteria. These toilets typically have a vent to get rid of harmful gasses with a fan, which requires a battery. You will have to dispose of waste in the toilet manually every three weeks to every three months, depending on how many people are using the toilet.

Common problems include leaks, clogs, and running water. Regular maintenance prevents most issues.

If you’ve accessed the bolts and nuts that hold your toilet seat in place and can’t unscrew them, it’s possible that they were overtightened or that the material corroded over time, making it impossible to unscrew. If that’s the case, you can either call in a plumber for help, or you can DIY a solution if you’re careful. Lay down masking tape around the mounting bracket and then use the tape as a surface to lay a hack saw blade. Move slowly to cut through the bracket and bolt, being careful not to damage the porcelain in the process.
