Small jobs welcome

"Amazing remodel transformation for my home office! JJB Renovations turned my back bedroom into a beautiful and fully functional home office...complete with huge new window space!! I am in love with my new workspace and finally don't feel "closed in" while I work and enjoy the views from my new office windows. JJB replaced old flooring that needed to be replaced, fixed walls that were damaged, installed 2 new windows that included exterior vinyl siding work, completed required framing and trim, and installed all new flooring. Best investment I have made and will call on JJB Renovations for each and every task need they cover! Christina K. Avory Home Care Solutions, LLC"

"Bradien Mize, owner of BLM Remodel is a pleasure to work with. My wife and I were interested in having our master bathroom shower remodeled. We found his business on Facebook and contacted him for a quote. He was punctual in timing from beginning to end with the job. He allowed us to design the shower remodel to our liking and performed top-knotch work in a matter of a few days. In the little over a year since we've had the job done the custom shower is still in great condition. Brandon was very professional in his approach to his work and in his treatment of my wife and I as customers. Additionally, his pricing compared to the quality of work performed was exceptional. We will definitely use him again for future remodeling projects and definitely recommend his services."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

No, painting shower tile doesn’t last and is better reserved as a temporary solution to refreshing the look of old tiles. Shower tile paint may last around one to five years, depending on how well you prep the surface before painting, the type of paint you use, the type of tile in your shower, and how often you use the shower.

No, you don’t technically need a cement backer board for a wall tiling project, but not using it risks disastrous moisture damage. Cement is naturally water-resistant, whereas drywall soaks it in, which can lead to warping or mold growth. Always use a backer board treated with a waterproof membrane for bathrooms and other chronically damp areas to ensure complete tile shower waterproofing.

Bathrooms are naturally moisture-rich environments, so choose a durable, water-resistant tile for your tub surround. Porcelain and ceramic are two popular options that are also quite affordable. Glass is another good option that’s also low-maintenance—you just need a glass cleaner like you would use on the bathroom mirror. Natural stone tile is porous, but it’s still a viable option if you choose it in a glazed version.

Figure out how much tile you need by measuring the backsplash area. Measure the height and length in feet and multiply to get the square footage. Don’t make adjustments for outlets or small cutouts but subtract the square footage for windows or other large obstructions from the total. To account for waste, get 10% more than your calculation.

The number of boxes of tile you need depends entirely on the amount of tile in each box or case. Different manufacturers package their tiles differently, and boxes contain different amounts of tile depending on the size, shape, and material. Often, the amount of area that a case will cover is listed in the product description. To calculate the number of boxes you need, take the total square feet of the space and divide it by the number of square feet the box will cover.
