"Always on time. Let us know every step of the way of what they were doing. Could not tell that they had been here every day they cleaned up after their self like they had never been here. Would highly recommend and would use them again. We could not be happier with the remodel on our bathroom with our new tile and floors."

Small jobs welcome

"I recently had the pleasure of working with A Plus Home Remodeling for a comprehensive renovation of my home, and I am happy with the results. From the floor joists to the roof, they handled everything with professionalism and care. The team did a good job on many aspects of the project, including the installation of a new AC system, tiled showers, and a custom master bathroom. Their attention to detail could have been better. I had white subway tile with black grout installed, and it shows all the imperfections. It's hard to see small marks or holes in the grout, even after it was fixed three times. There were a few parts of the project that were just **OK**, but overall, I am satisfied with the outcome. The transformation of my home has been incredible, and I am excited to live in a safe and beautifully renovated space with my family. We did go over budget, but this was because we discovered additional needs for the house along the way. like a new AC and heating system, plus a new septic and full plumbing through out the house. Carlos was incredibly accommodating and worked with our budget to ensure we could still afford the necessary improvements. There were some issues with the electrical work and some of the finishings that were not completed to our liking. However, Carlos addressed these issues promptly and was willing to come back and fix them to ensure we were satisfied customers. Thank you, A Plus Home Remodeling, for making our home renovation dreams come true!"

Customers say: True professional

"I had Sergio and his team recently remodel my master bathroom and couldn’t be happier with the results. I had a dated tub/shower side by side and everything was taken out floor to ceiling and a new larger tiled shower was built and custom shelving replaced the old shower footprint. Sergio worked with me on my budget, they were responsive to all my questions before and during the project and kept their completion timeline. His entire team truly cares about the work they do and it shows in the results I have. I’m extremely happy with the choice I made in a remodeling company!"

"I worked with Prime Time Custom Homes for a kitchen remodel and had an excellent experience. Everyone that worked on my home was professional, personable, experienced, communicative, and prompt. My home was built in the 70s, and I wanted to go with a modernized 70s-style vibe - we installed a butter yellow pantry wall, milk glass pendants (Amazon), a stained glass window feature (Etsy, Cali Glasshaus), and pops of walnut wood tones. They worked with me throughout the project to bring the concept to life. I used to refer to my kitchen as "my little cave", but now it is an an open, well-lit, functional and beautiful space! Finishing work like shiplap/wall paint will be completed soon; uploaded pics of the nearly completed project. Very pleased with the experience I've had! Highly recommend!"

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can tile over existing shower tiles, but it's better to remove the old tiles first for the best results. Tiling over existing tiles requires a clean, level surface and proper adhesion. If the old tiles are in good condition, you can roughen the surface to improve adhesion. However, removing the old tiles ensures a smoother, longer-lasting finish and prevents potential issues down the line.

Ideally, you should remove tile before installing hardwood floors, but there are good reasons not to. Removing stubborn tile can be a labor-intensive job that adds days to the project. The subfloor beneath the tiles could also be damaged during the process, meaning you’d have to repair the subfloor before installing the new hardwood floor.

The best trowel for penny tile is a 3/16-inch-by-5/32-inch V-notch trowel. Because of the small size of the penny tile, you want a trowel with small notches that can lay a thin layer of mortar on the surface you’re tiling. If the notches are too wide, you risk applying too thick of a layer of mortar, and it can squeeze out between the penny tiles.

Here’s another instance of where the answer is you could, but that doesn’t mean you should. Yes, part of the issue is getting the drywall to stay in place on the tiles, and it’s understandable that screws will crack the tiles and cause them to crumble. That’s why it’s a much better idea to screw drywall into studs, not your porcelain or ceramic tile. But aside from issues with attaching the drywall, it’s also about ensuring a smooth application without trapping moisture inside.

Yes, you can install a backsplash directly onto drywall, provided the wall is properly prepped, clean, and dry. For best results, especially in kitchen areas, your walls should be made of moisture-resistant drywall, often called green board. If your current wall isn't moisture-resistant, it's recommended to replace it before installing the backsplash. For even greater protection against water damage, you can remove the existing drywall and install a tile backer board or cement board instead. While properly installed standard drywall is typically strong enough to support a backsplash, some local building codes may require water-resistant materials in kitchen areas, so it's a good idea to check.
