"Paul and his crew installed a new backsplash in my remodeled kitchen and did a great job. He and his crew the completely remodeled two bathrooms, gutting all plumbing, tile, flooring and They also remodeled two complete bathroom renovations. The projects included design, plumbing electrical . They did a great job designing and implementing the new bathrooms. They remained on budget, did quality design and installation. "Kitchen and laundry room tile and grout looks brand new again. Most impressed with the restoration of the 8 ft marble counter top on the vanity in bathroom, I had plans to replace this vanity top which would involve purchasing a new countertop, paying someone to remove the old marble top and install the new counter top and can't forget the additional cost of a plumber to disconnect/reconnect the plumbing. I so glad I found Jason who saved me many dollars and the old marble top looks great."

Small jobs welcome

"Amazing remodel transformation for my home office! JJB Renovations turned my back bedroom into a beautiful and fully functional home office...complete with huge new window space!! I am in love with my new workspace and finally don't feel "closed in" while I work and enjoy the views from my new office windows. JJB replaced old flooring that needed to be replaced, fixed walls that were damaged, installed 2 new windows that included exterior vinyl siding work, completed required framing and trim, and installed all new flooring. Best investment I have made and will call on JJB Renovations for each and every task need they cover! Christina K. Avory Home Care Solutions, LLC"

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

The rule tells you how to cut tile to install it in a corner. The 3/4/5 rule recommends that you should have 3 feet across on one straight line, four feet on the other perpendicular line, and 5 feet of length from the end of one of the lines to the other. You’re making a right triangle with the tile, and the hypotenuse (the line across from where the 3-foot lie and 4-foot line meet) should be 5 feet long.

Tile—specifically smaller, mosaic-style tiles—is the best type of flooring for building a walk-in shower base. Shower pans come with a threshold and sidewalls to contain the water, but tile can be set into the shower base. This creates a walk-in shower floor that gently slopes toward the drain to keep water from getting out and into the rest of the bathroom.

Larger tiles can be difficult to install because they’re heavier and bulkier than their smaller counterparts, which makes them harder to haul around and put in place. Plus, if you don’t install the tiles correctly, they could crack or break. For these reasons, it’s best to hire a professional for large-format tile installation.

You should always use caulk instead of grout where the tile meets the wall. This will help your tile installation look great and last a long time. When you accidentally use grout for the corner seams, you end up making the tiles too rigid. So as the wall shifts over time, your tiles have no wiggle room. This can lead to tile damage, which will eventually require you to do at least a partial reinstallation.

Yes, even if you’re being careful, removing tile can damage your drywall to some degree. However, you can minimize the damage done to it by eliminating a majority of the grout and taking your time prying each tile off. Also, it's worth noting that you might have more drywall damages to deal with if your tile is set into the mortar.
