"The specialist sent was amazing. He showed me everything step by step that was wrong with my HVAC. The house was constantly at 91 degrees and he fixed it all there and then. I had talked to many companies about the HVAC job I needed done. They all said they would â call me to schedule an appointmentâ but this gentleman reached out came within the hour showed me everything that was wrong. He fixed it all in well timely manner, he was clean, and very polite. He will give you the best prices. He is a hard worker and very knowledgeable. He will be maintaining my hvac system from now on. Would recommend 5/5"

"I called GSM inquiring about their HVAC and insulation services. I also asked if I could have someone perform a Manual J load calculation (surprise to me, the Manual J calc was free!) as I felt that my existing heat pump was sized too small for my home (2.5 ton dual-zone single stage heat pump for 2200sq ft 2-story house). We agreed on an appointment time, and they sent Kelly out to my house. Kelly was very nice and professional, and did a thorough job explaining what all could be done and what my options were. Due to having so little room to work inside of the mechanical closest, you would have to remove the air handler completely just to wrap all of the duct work. Since I would be removing the old air handler that was 8 years old anyway, I decided to replace the entire system with a new Amana 3-ton 18 SEER dual-zoned heat pump. Kelly also told me they could seal up the hole & the mechanical closet so that hot air could no longer enter that space as well. I agreed to their quote, and they came out a week later (it would've been sooner but GSM wanted to make sure that the new system was designed properly, so they had to architect and design the layout of the new equipment to fit the small space) to do the work. Owen and Jason came out to perform the installation. They were both very professional & thorough, and they did an excellent job with the swap out & installation of the new heat pump. When GSM told me that it would take two days to do the work, I was prepared to be miserably hot trying to sleep at night with no air conditioning. Not only did GSM bring a portable AC unit for me use that evening so that wouldn't be the case, Owen and Jason actually got the heat pump wired and working the first day so I had full AC that evening, and the portable unit wasn't needed! They also insulated the attic space & mechanical closet with spray foam and foam board so the hot attic air will no longer be an issue. All in all, my experience with GSM has been great! They've been easy to communicate with throughout the entire process, they did an excellent job with the installation of the new equipment, and now I can rest easy knowing that everything has been taken care of!"

"I sought a pro on Google who could do an air conditioning tune up and Neil of Mr.Furnace HVAC answered my call. He was about to finish for the evening but said he could pass by around 2130 to have a look at my unit. He was on time, very professional and assessed my issue and had all the materials to fix it right on the spot and at a very reasonable price. I would recommend him to anyone needing a/c work done as he is the boss of his company and as a result has very little, if any overhead so he is able to do the necessary repairs for a very good price."

"I am beyond grateful to have met this amazing Father-Son team who came out to help us with some mold and HVAC concerns we were having with a new home we were looking to rent! Upon our initial move-in inspection my husband and I found some concerning evidence of mold and other issues but didnâ t know exactly what to do about it. We were so concerned to sleep there that we texted Blake in the middle of the night and literally the next morning he and his son showed up on our doorstep to see what was going on. I told him I was already experiencing breathing issues and felt poorly so he said that he would get to the bottom of it. Within 10minutes he found the problems and said that he didnâ t even need to test to tell us that where we had just moved into was infested by mold. However, we had just signed a new lease and with this finding needed to get out ASAP! My husband and I opted to do a mold test and sure enough (within 24hrs) it came back positive for over 10 types of moldâ ¦3 of which were leading causes of serious health issues. The biggest shock was that one was shown to cause childhood asthma and we have a 2 year old daughter. I also have a compromised immune system so this also explained why I was already experiencing symptoms in such a short time. As hard as it was to get this â bad result,â it was in fact very good news because it showed us that the home would not have been a healthy place for us to live. As someone who has struggled tremendously with health issues, I have a passion for maintaining good health for myself and our family and preventing disease at all costs. The â costâ of doing the mold test was absolutely priceless because it literally (potentially) saved our family from much further heartache. When he called us to discuss the results I couldnâ t help but cry because as a mother I was just so relieved that I was not alone in my concerns and he reassured us that we were right in feeling the way we did and that he would help us get through this difficult situation. I specifically remember him saying to me â Donâ t worry, Iâ m on your side.â And we had only met 24hrs prior. He proved to be faithful and talked to us about how to proceed with our management company and get out of that place. Sure enough, today we are no longer living in that house and are searching for a new place to live again. However, this time we know what to look for and already have plans to call IES back out before we sign another lease with anyone. It is a miracle that we met them and know they were meant to help us. They literally helped save our familiesâ health and we are eternally grateful! Also, their professionalism made us feel extremely comfortable! They went above and beyond for us and I wish I could give them more than 5 stars!!!!! If you have any concerns about your home or whatever it is, please please please contact them. I am absolutely confident you will not be disappointed! And from the bottom of this mothers heart, thank you gentlemen for your exceptional service!"

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Yes, government incentives and programs are available to encourage energy-efficient upgrades in many regions. These incentives may include tax credits, rebates, grants, and low-interest loans for homeowners who invest in energy-efficient improvements such as HVAC system upgrades, insulation, and efficient windows. The availability and specific details of these incentives can vary by location, so check with your local government or utility company to explore your options.

Yes, it’s best to turn off an AC unit that’s blowing hot air to prevent system damage and avoid expensive energy bills. If you let the AC continue running, it will put more strain on the condenser coil and compressor. Plus, if the AC is blowing hot air because of a refrigerant leak, it can also lead to a frozen evaporator coil.

It is possible to add air conditioning to an older home, but it can be very expensive to do so. Expect to pay anywhere from $6,000 to $17,000 or more for the ductwork and AC unit. You’ll also have to hack into the home’s walls and ceilings to add ductwork, which can impact the aesthetics of an old home.

If your AC condenser is nearing the end of its life, it might leak fluid or make loud or unusual sounds (like grinding or hissing). You might also notice that it isn’t heating your home as evenly or effectively as it once did. Also, an aging condenser will have to work harder to cool your home, which may force it to use more power and drive up your utility bills.

Yes, adding central air can increase your home value by as much as 10%. Generally speaking, prospective buyers prefer a central AC system over a ductless system or room-by-room AC units. That’s because central air conditioning blends into the home easier than individual room air conditioners and typically has less equipment to maintain.
