"Joseph Donabella was the handyman that came and fixed my front door. I have not been able to use my deadbolt for years. Joe took the door off and refit it properly so I can now use my deadbolt again. My door knob lock was also sticking. After he checked it he said I needed to replace the door knob due to its age and suggested I go to a hardware store so I can get the new knob and get it rekeyed to my current key. He was very pleasant and professional. I would work with him again."

Because everything is factory-aligned, installation is quicker, more precise, and convenient, as you don't need to drill or align the hinges yourself. This makes it a smart option if your current frame is damaged, uneven, or if you're working on a new build. Installation involves fitting the entire unit into the rough opening, shimming and leveling it, and then securing it. If you are replacing an existing prehung door, the process is even simpler, often just requiring you to swap the old unit for the new one and secure it with a few screws. Prehung doors typically cost only slightly more (around $20) than a door slab alone, making them an efficient choice.

You can attach the hinges to either the door or the frame first, depending on your preference. The order will not affect how the door hangs or the ease of installation. However, we recommend starting with the top hinge over the bottom one for stability, as it’s much easier to support the door from below while you install the top hinge. It will also be easier to pull the door outward from the hinges as it hangs from the top than it would be to push the door toward the hinges, as there’s less clearance on the lock side.

This hack required some hand strength. First, bend the fork's tines. Next, slip the pointed ends into the door latch and close the door. Open the door to remove the fork and break off the fork's handle. Reinsert the fork's head into the door latch and close the door. Finally, slide the fork's handle through the tines, creating a horizontal barrier that prevents the door from opening inward.

You will need to cut or break a boomstick so it is wider than the door and long enough to anchor outside the door frame. Extend the broomstick horizontally under the doorknob, ensuring it's snug. Now using long screws and a drill, anchor the broomstick to the wall outside the door frame. Remember that you won't be able to open the door afterward. Do not proceed with this hack if your home has no alternative exit.
