"We had serious issues with our second (half) story being consistently warmer than our first story, bringing with it very high electric bills. Peak Energy performed an energy audit that identified the issue and then sealed our attic (in the middle of a summer heat wave, no less) in 2 days. The team was professional and punctual and the discrepancy in our temperatures between the two floors went from >5 degrees to <2 degrees."

"Technician was running about 10 minutes behind schedule but called to let us know. He had to go to the hardware store because he did not have the correct outlet. We had to pay for the outlet which was not costly $10. Once he had all needed items he was able to get the job done quickly. He also answered some questions that we had about additional electrical concerns."

"Ecomaster did an excellent job putting in the insulation. They sealed the attic, put in blown in insulation, plus weather striped and sealed stairway . They made an error in what to charge us- the attic space was larger than the house diagram showed. So, they actually charged us less than they should have. But they held to original estimate and didn't charge us more. I appreciated their honesty and integrity in keeping their word and holding to the original contract. There was also a rebate from Duke Energy that we were supposed to receive for putting in the insulation. It took 6 months and a lot of follow up on their side but they kept at it, kept us up to date and we finally received the rebate. I am very grateful for the work they put in after the sale. Our energy bills have dropped dramatically since the insulation was installed."

"I've been a Realtor for 18 years. I've never had a better experience with an HVAC company than I've had with Alpine.  We decided on Friday afternoon that I needed a new furnace and duct work, and the job was done by Tuesday afternoon, the day before Christmas!!   My experience with everyone, from the person who diagnosed my problem, to the person who discussed financing with me, to the technicians who installed the system, could not have been any better.
The technicians showed up on time, were extremely knowledgeable and professional, explained everything they did for me, and left the site cleaner than how they found it.  They were very impressive, had great attitudes, and made me feel very confident that the new system will serve me well, and will save me a lot of money in energy bills.
As a Realtor, I take my testimonials very seriously.  I can honestly say that my dealings with Alpine from start to finish were absolutely perfect, and I wouldn't change anything about how it went. I've emailed a testimonial to Alpine, and told them they can have anyone who is thinking of using them, to call me for a reference.  I will refer all of my clients and colleagues to Alpine.  I could not be happier with the job they did for me.

We had Rick perform all the electrical work needed to bring our home office project to life, which included installing several new outlets, relocating several outlets, and installing a splitter for high speed data.  Rick had to make several trips to our house in coordination with the carpentry work being conducted, and he was very good about scheduling the dates and times for those visits.  Rick always kept us informed as to when he would be coming by and what he needed to do.  Rick was very friendly, professional, and provided us with high quality work.  We will use Rick in the future for all of our electrical needs.

Energy Efficiency Auditing questions, answered by experts

A blower door test shouldn’t take more than an hour, and most can be completed in less than 30 minutes. Expect the test to take longer once you start searching for leaks with thermal imaging or want to include sealing such leaks in the time estimate. The test doesn’t take much time and can’t be rushed, but it will take longer in large homes or those with many air leaks.

When combined with a substantial solar system, if you have enough Powerwalls, you could go off-grid and be energy independent. But remember, you'd need enough Powerwalls to power your whole home continuously because a single Powerwall can’t power large appliances for extended periods. One Powerwall is able to power an average-sized home's emergency circuits, lights, and outlets. To power large appliances, you likely need two or three Powerwalls.

Fireplaces can theoretically help you save on heating bills if you lower the temperature throughout the rest of your home and heat only a single room that you occupy using the fireplace. However, in most cases, homeowners won’t save any money on heating bills. Gas and electric fireplace inserts could actually lead to a spike in your respective energy bills if you use them frequently, and if you don’t keep up with chimney maintenance and repairs, your traditional masonry fireplace could actually be a source of heat loss in the winter.

Hawaii is currently rated as the most expensive state for utilities. How much are utilities for a house in Hawaii? With electricity costs in Hawaii totaling nearly 42 cents per kilowatt-hour, residents are paying more to run their households than any other residents. Electricity costs in Hawaii are so high, mostly due to the fact that most of the electricity available to residents is produced using oil that must be shipped in from other places.

Dehumidifiers typically use 300 to 700 watts of electricity per hour, whereas portable dehumidifiers use about 40 watts per hour. The exact amount of electricity your dehumidifier will generate depends on its capacity and energy efficiency. Generally, higher-capacity dehumidifiers generate more electricity than lower-capacity units, but they also usually have better energy efficiency over the long run.
