"ARS is the HVAC service provider since we bought this house from the builder. Furthermore, ARS was the HVAC sub during its construction. This visit was to remove a worn-out humidifier, replace it, and replace a UV bulb. Jonathan was the technician. He provided excellent service."

"This company is fantastic. I have used them for the past 7 years since relocating to North Carolina and they have always completed the work in a timely, cost effective manner. We have had the privilege of working with the same Service Tech. (David) that entire time. In my experience as a homeowner (35+ years) that is unheard of. David is on time for appointments (or calls is running late or early), quickly responds to emergency heating/cooling situations, and looks for repair solutions that will take care of the issue for the least possible cost. It is reassuring to "know" your tech. and have a good feeling about the job he is doing. We also have an annual service agreement with Duggins. We have two furnaces (one electric and one gas) and two a/c systems. Their annual service fee, in my opinion, is very reasonable. He spends whatever time necessary to do the job right. Our home was new construction and in the first couple of years we had a major repair to the system. Duggins did not do the original install but reached out to the manufacturer to make sure that the warranty work was covered. This may not seem like a big deal, but I was not aware the unit was still under warranty, and would have paid for everything - I do not believe all companies would even check about the warranty. I have no reservations recommending Duggins based on 7+ years personal experience with them!"

"William brought his best HVAC Techs to our home. He listened to our description of the problem. He and the Tech Bob accessed our attic to directly examine the furnace in operation. Thru it they found the problem source. They explained our options. They ordered the parts, returned ASAP. Installed the new parts, adjusted them appropriately. We are now comfortable, and happy. Go Shamrock! We like their wprkmanshop, thanks guys."

"Ryland was very professional in providing me options. He has a great work ethic and did a great job installing the new HVAC units. He showed up on time and left the area clean. He called after the installation to make sure everything was working. I would recommend him to my family and I would hire him for any HVAC installation"

"Chris was the technician that came out and did a wonderful job very informative. The unit was low on freon and while we were looking at the unit fan motor went out and he was able to get a new one next day. He vacuumed the unit out of all the leaves and clean the fins and then actually put away some of my tools and hoses. Chris went above and beyond I would highly recommend."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

On average, replacing an AC compressor costs between $800 and $2,300, but it could cost as much as $2,800. There are a few factors that impact the price of a compressor replacement, including the type and size of the compressor, as well as the type of HVAC system and local labor rates.

If your drain line is clogged, your AC might stop cooling, shut down, or refuse to turn on at all. Otherwise, you might see your AC leaking water, find standing water or water damage near the unit, or notice a musty smell coming out of your air conditioner or vents.

If your whole house is cold that’s one thing, but what if you only have a few rooms that are cold? First, you need to determine why this may be happening. A good place to start is to investigate the potential causes listed in this article—heat transfer, airflow, thermostat problems, humidity, and insulation. Once you’ve narrowed down the issue, you’d apply the same principles to the cold rooms as you would to the entire home.

Deciding whether to replace just the AC coil or the entire system depends on the age of your unit and the overall cost. Replacing a coil is less expensive than a full system replacement, but it can still be a pricey repair. If your HVAC system is relatively new and still under warranty, or if the replacement cost is significantly lower than a new system, replacing the coil can be a worthwhile investment that restores efficiency and extends the unit's life. However, for older systems (nearing the end of their 10-15 year lifespan) or those with extensive damage, it is often more cost-effective to replace the entire AC unit. Mismatched coils in an older system can lead to inefficiency and future breakdowns, so a full replacement ensures optimal performance and avoids further costly repairs.

Yes. Getting a whole-house dehumidifier can help you save money on energy bills. How? Your home automatically feels cooler when there’s less humidity in the air (“It’s the humidity that gets ya!” is such a true statement). This means that you won’t need to run your AC as much as you would if you had all that extra humidity in your home.
