"I had been told by a previous provider that my plumbing would have to be moved to solve the stoppage problem, but David, who was able to come within about 30 minutes of my call to the company, snaked the plumbing. This completely unclogged the sink. He also replaced a specialized washer and explained a few drain-related items. I was impressed by his ability to fix what I had been dealing with for months!"

"I have a household of 4 girls and our bath drains have been slow forever. The Zoom Drain technician explained the situation and tested each fixture to analyze where the clog was and, sure enough when he snaked the sink line, the bathtub drain improved too. He also snaked the tub for good measure which I felt was nice of him. Ran lots of water to show improvement. Solid service."

Rescheduled within the week for 3-5 pm. Text "on the way" at 4:30 PM. No show at 5:15 pm. Called, told their schedule was 5-7 pm. Showed up about 5:30 pm. Video outside drain took all of 15 min for about $200 AND close to 5 hr of my waiting time over 2 different day."

"Atlas Foundation was wonderful. They were efficient, friendly, punctual, did quality work at a fair price. I tried to convince the owner, Mike, that I needed the more expensive french drain but he held to his ethics and said no the less expensive sump pump would solve my problem. He could have made more money off of me but he didn't. He held to his ethics and I am grateful because he was right."

French Drains questions, answered by experts

If methods like hot water or a plunger don’t work on your clogged drain, you can snake your drain to dislodge the plug. This can be a messy process, taking some physical effort and additional time over the other drain-clearing options. You can purchase a drain snake at a hardware store and choose from handheld options or those attached to a drill. Just work slowly, and be ready to call a plumber if you’re unable to reach the clog from your drain or P-trap.

Some homeowners use additives every month to help septic system performance, but according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the effectiveness of septic system and leach field additives is unknown. Further, additives made with organic solvents or alkali chemicals can actually be harmful to the necessary bacteria in a septic system.

An AC drip pan may stop draining if there’s a clog where the drip pan connects to the drain line. Clogs can form from a lack of cleaning or from rust or corrosion buildup. Cleaning the drip pan at least once per month lowers the chances of debris clogging the drain line.

Yes, you can pour water down the toilet to help it flush. For each flush, you’ll need 1 to 2 gallons of water for newer toilets or 3 to 5 gallons of water for older toilets. Rather than dumping the entire bucket in all at once, pour the water in slowly for the best results. If you’re pouring water down the toilet to help it flush after a clog, only use 1 gallon of hot water.

To prevent drain clogs, perform regular maintenance and cleaning. Avoid disposing of substances like grease or coffee grounds down the sink. Additionally, installing and routinely using drain strainers can help catch debris and prevent blockages from forming.
