Our 115-year old kitchen was in need of a total remodel due to age and other remodeling efforts that were done poorly in the past. The kitchen was gutted down to the studs which revealed structural problems that were caused by a previous remodel. Buck Brothers addressed this issue with flying colors and the lead carpenter was amazing in fixing the structural problem and all other aspects of rebuilding the kitchen. The cost of the project was higher than we anticipated but the final outcome was worth it and we definitely got our monies worth. It is hard to single out the most valuable sub-contractor; they were all top notch but I have to give special thanks to Tracy the project manager, Scott the carpenter, D&B Custom Woods ( beautiful cabinets and right on miter cuts), Paramount Granite (great quality and excellent installation). I must add that the electrician, plumber and heating contractors had their work cut out for them. The painters were meticulous, respectful, and very helpful with color selection and fun to work with. Otherwise, I liked everything about them. They were very good and very helpful. They offered a discount. They really wanted my business and their products are a little bit different in that the boxes are smaller. They suit a different type of need but they were very responsive in working with me to get a good delivery date. Because their boxes are smaller, their prices are somewhat more reasonable and they were willing to discount the delivery fee. They were very professional and very helpful with phone contact. The initial meeting with Dean at our site provided invaluable insight and guidance to aid in proper design and ordering of our cabinets. With his assistance, we ordered the cabinets, appliances and accessories ourselves. We then hired Dean to provide the installation services. To say the project went well would be an understatement. Dean was on-time each day and prepared to work. His background in cabinetmaking was quite evident by his attention to detail during the installation. My husband, who is a contractor as well, commented on on several aspects of the work, remarking that most contractors would not have taken the time to do several of the things Dean did to assure a perfect installation. We had hired Dean on an hourly basis, and my husband was allowed to assist him with some phases of the work. Initially, I was a bit nervous about the hourly rate, but Dean worked very efficiently and didn't even take a break while working that I observed. We were very satisfied with our project and the services he provided. We have since referred him to others who were satisfied as well. I would not hesitate to hire him again. And it was. The business owner contacted us to set up a time, and the service person, Joe, called about 20 minutes before arrival to let us know he was on the way. Joe fixed a minor issue with the toilet that wasn't really part of the tune-up process, but he didn't charge us extra for it. He gave us advice on finding the customized part we need to replace in our old toilet, and suggested that we didn't really need to buy the part from him, since we would be able to get a better deal directly from the manufacturer. He explained that we could probably install it ourselves, but if we wanted him to come back out to take care of it, we could call and schedule another visit. I was impressed that he didn't try to sell us something generic that would not have worked as well as what we really needed. Keep in mind that what this company does most and best is drain cleaning, and I'm sure the Angie's List offer included the toilet tune-up as an added bonus. For us, the drain cleaning wasn't as important as getting our toilet in working order. But Joe was on a mission! Joe was reluctant to snake the kitchen drain, since it seemed to be running okay, so he checked other drains in the house before agreeing to complete the job from the kitchen. He seemed actually happy that he found a clump of grease about 20 feet out, making it worth his while to run the snake! Joe cleaned up everything, double checked his work in every area, and made sure we were satisfied before he left. We know that we will need to have our main sewer line cleared in the future, because tree roots are a big problem every few years. Joe gave me information about their process and prices, and I know we will be calling them again when we need to have any drain cleaning done. Very professional, personable, knowledgeable, and as eager to save us money as we are!

I additionally had them give me an estimate for replacing my hot and cold lines in my house, I plan on calling them when I am ready to schedule this work. "Remodel was supposed to take 2 weeks. It has been 2 months and is still not done. 24 of those days no one showed up. Several (at least 9) days they worked 2 hours or less. When they said the work was "complete" I was left with a "shell" for a closet (no bar to hang clothes or even a shelf) and a piece of trim that I guess I am supposed to install. (I cannot-I am elderly and disabled, that is why the work was hired out) In the new bathroom, I had no towel holders, toilet paper holder, mirror or shelves. In the basement where they removed the washer and dryer, I was left with a huge open hole in the wall that was not covered. Dryer vent was left open to the outside of house making it a great place for heat to escape and mice to come in. SEVERAL walls were left half painted. Including the hallway, the bedroom and downstairs bathroom where they went into the ceiling to hook up plumbing. When installing the shower, they nailed through the wall and put holes all the way through into the kitchen. Those were mudded but not painted so I now have a brown wall with a row of white mud spots. I am STILL waiting to hear from them about finishing the closet and painting. When they were actively working, I frequently received emails with excuses as to why they could not be here or why the work wasnt being done (truck problems, vacation, no painter available, etc) I am a disabled senior citizen-I cannot do this work by myself and would not recommend them to anyone who needs a reliable honest company."

As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:
The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check
Required to have applicable state and local licenses
Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review
Paying to advertise their services
Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi
Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.
The best time of year to remodel your home is late winter and early spring when fewer homeowners are thinking about projects and pros are more available. Also consider the type of remodel you want and plan ahead as much as possible. For example, the summer is a great time of year to update your fireplace, but winter is a better option for fixing foundations and building room additions.
