Twin City Garage Door was founded in 1965, and has been a leader in its industry for over 50 years. We have 4 locations; New Hope, St. Paul, Burnsville and St. Cloud. We service the 9 county metro area as well as the St. Cloud area. There we are known as GDS. We do commercial rolling steel, fire doors, high speed doors, partitions ,shutters and grilles. We have a HUGE inventory of doors and openers in stock, including a wide range of attractive residential doors and can special order custom wood doors as well. If repair parts are still available for your door and opener, we either have them in stock or can order them. Our service vans are rolling warehouses widely stocked with commonly needed parts. Because of the longevity, experience, training and expertise of our staff and crew, we can do the difficult jobs nobody else will touch, like a door 40’ up in the air at the MSP airport. We excel at common garage door problems too, like broken springs, cables, rollers, etc. Our crew are all employees, not subcontractors, so they have a vested interest in the reputation and success of the company. All of them have been here a long time and know what they are doing. We do not let a new technician out on his own until he has been thoroughly trained. We have an A+ rating at the BBB and pride ourselves on customer service, during and after the sale! "Our new door was ordered on 6/3/2021and installed on 9/15/2021. Shortly thereafter a cosmetic dent was noticed in one of the panels. A new panel was ordered and the damaged one was replaced. On observation, the new panel was damaged also. Again, the panel was ordered and, after a time, replaced. More recently, we noticed that there is a dent on one of the panels but this one is on the interior facing side of the panel. This went unnoticed until now. The previous two cosmetic defects were to the exterior facing panels. The currently damaged panel defect is on the inside facing surface and went unnoticed until now. Most likely because we were accustomed to looking for cosmetic issues on the exterior of the panels. Although it took us a while to discover this new defect, once seen, it is impossible for us to unsee it. Unfortunately for us, Twin City Garage Door Co. refuses to cover the replacement of the panel under their warranty. We will NOT use this company for our next garage door purchase or service. One garage door purchased with three panel replacements, due to handling issues, seems excessive."

Key City has been in business since 1955 with local owner/operators throughout that time. Keeping this shop small with 1-3 personnel keeps the cost fair and customer service outstanding. "We scheduled a date with Key City Electric to have electrical work done on a specific date due to installation of new cabinets. We scheduled weeks in advance. We had a one week time frame to get it done. We were NOT told the first visit would be for an estimate, we assumed the work would be done that day. When they arrived and did the estimate we were told it was a “big project” and would require “a LOT of work”. We wanted a couple outlets moved and an electrical wire moved. We were stunned with an estimate of close to $8,500 and the way they talked we assumed this was going to require numerous electricians to complete over several days. We felt backed into a corner and at that point had no time to get other estimates. We assumed we were being charged the going rate for the work. Two days later ONE electrician came and completed the work in less than 8 hours. Knowing we had been taken advantage of, we sought estimates to support our belief. We got three estimates for the work based on the project list they gave us (they wanted to charge us an additional $150 for a breakdown of parts and labor). Our other estimates were $2,200, $2,700 and $3,400. We were given an excuse that this was a rush job and they had to take an electrician off vacation to do the work. If they had been up front about informing us the initial visit was for an estimate we would have scheduled the estimate much earlier. We also found out they did not file the appropriate permit with the state as required. A complaint has been filed with the MN Attorney General’s office."
