Closets For Life, a custom organization company based in Apple Valley, Minnesota, works with residential clients as well as designers, builders and architects to create innovative storage solutions for all organizational needs including closets, offices, garages, kitchens, laundry rooms, wine cellars, Murphy beds and more. What makes Closets For Life different than the others? We listen. We pride ourselves on the ability to listen to the client and determine their specific needs. We understand that each part of your home has unique organizational requirements.

"Rick was great to work with. He came and measured the closets, quickly sent back design ideas for what we were looking for, made any changes to the designs that we asked for in a day or so, and was able to do all of the installation over the course of two mornings. They even worked around our kid’s nap schedule for installing. Rick and one other guy did all of the installation. It turned out exactly how I was hoping, gave us tons of storage, and looks great. The price came in at less than what California Closets quoted us for a similar design. Highly recommend!"

"Scott did an amazing job on our fence repair. Our wooden fence had some rotting posts and the fence was falling in as a result. Scott took out the rotting posts and replaced them with new ones. He cut the old posts into pieces so they would be ready to put out for trash pick-up. We had ropes holding up the fence, and he and his team removed those as part of the job. He is very service-oriented and did very high quality work!"

Our company has provided complete general contracting services for residential remodeling projects since 1978. Employees. Use only Licensed & Insured Sub-Contractors with long-term relationships. MN Lic. # BC-2562. Serving The Twin Cities Since 1978. EPA RRP Certified

"Overall, the project went very well, We are happy with the quality of the work and the result. The plans were creative, and we were happy with the design selections and guidance. There were a few unexpected changes to layout due to structural constraints, which resulted in a less efficient flow. The cost of change orders were not clearly explained prior to execution. The contractor was very hands on and at the job site extensively, and she was easy to get a hold of. The carpenter was not available to work on the project on Fridays, which did extend the project timeline. The contractor pointed out repairs/improvements that needed to be made to bring the home up to code. This added cost, but was necessary and appreciated."

Outdoor Solutions Inc. started with a simple concept in 1997 to treat folks like we would like to be treated. Our family company has grown but we continue to provide the same great quality and customer service that our customers expect and deserve since 1997. We specialize in Composite and PVC decks as well as custom Cedar and Exotic hardwoods.Custom screen rooms and additions are always a fan favorite at Outdoor Solutions Inc. Winter work includes basement remodels and insurance claims. We are proud to recycle a huge part of our construction debris and offer recycled decking and aluminum products as well as all new materials for those who want that.. We offer a 2 year labor warranty. We look forward to working with you.

"We had our deck tear down and build done by Outdoor Solutions Inc. late summer of 2022. The finished product turned out much better (appearance and quality of construction) than we could have imagined. Jim and Christi Funk, the proprietors, were very easy and friendly to work with. Jim was very informative in helping select the material and describing the process. He was great at describing the qualities of TREX materials and the type of railing that would be best. His crew, with Josh as the lead, was very thorough and conscientious in doing the work. They definitely wanted to do the job the right way. Bottom line, we have a very beautiful deck at a very reasonable price. People comment on how well it fits our house. For area of improvements’: project start date could be better planned and material delivery could be better coordinated. Outside of this, we are very happy with work done on our deck."

Ohana Home & Design is an award winning residential design build firm serving the Twin Cities metro area. Ryan and Maggie Sewell are the owners of the company and the main point of contact for every client. From the first phone call, to the design phase, to the construction phase, to the completed renovation, we are there with you each step of the way to make every project enjoyable and successful. Ohana’s mission is to personally enhance the homes and lives of our clients while establishing a long term relationship built on trust. Our unique approach to working closely with our clients, our attention to detail, and our high standards of craftsmanship, have created countless dazzling and dynamic renovations.

"We hired Ohana Home and Design to do a total bathroom remodel for us. We wanted something that would be more functional as we age, and yet be stylish. Ryan and Maggie were amazing to work with! They removed the bathtub and made a walk in shower that is completely handicapped accessible. The shower has a gorgeous feature wall made of pebbles that gives that "spa" feeling, and added details, like a towel warmer, that really makes us feel pampered. We were out of town during the entire remodel as we only have one bathroom. I was concerned about returning to a mess to clean up, but I was very pleasantly surprised! The apartment was immaculate and I didn't even have to dust! I was absolutely blown away with the final results! Plus Maggie even added personal touches, like fresh orchids in our Asian inspired spa bathroom! I can't recommend them highly enough! In fact, the bathroom was so amazing, that we've decided to remodel our kitchen, and of course, we wouldn't consider hiring anyone else but Ohana! Thank you, Ryan and Maggie for giving us the bathroom of our dreams!"

"We are extremely happy about every aspect of our new closet from Closet Factory. Janice was simply amazing, very helpful, very knowledgeable, up front and transparent about everything, and a really nice person who was fun to work with. The design/order phase with Janice was great, she came up with the best layout of anyone else we talked with, she was thorough and professional. The install phase also went very smooth. They were prompt, fast, clean, professional, and left the site looking great. The product itself is awesome. The hardware is high quality, sturdy and smooth. The panels/shelves/drawers are very solid and look excellent. We went with an all white system with brushed nickle pulls/accessories. Overall, we would highly recommend Closet Factory."

Closets questions, answered by experts

Since they are so fragile, it is not usually recommended to stack anything on top of your packed lamps. If you have sturdy boxes, and what you plan to put on top of them is of a similar weight, it’s okay to stack.

Bump-out additions can add some space to a closet without requiring any significant structural work. This entails pushing back the existing rear or side of the closet, simply moving the wall into either an adjacent room or unused space. For ground-floor closets, this could even be extended to the exterior of the home, but that has its own complications. Bump-outs are a good discussion to have with your contractor if you’re just looking to increase the space a little—not renovate the entire closet space.

Yes, many providers offer design consultations to optimize space and functionality. Confirm with your contractor.

While you may hear entryways referred to as mudrooms, there are some differences. Entryways are often the entrance point to the house from a guest’s perspective, which is why they’re off the front door. Mudrooms are less formal entrances that are more for the people living in the home, which is why mudrooms are often attached to garages or the side or rear of the house. Entryways are also more formally decorated, while mudrooms are often all about utility.

Yes, 12-inch shelves are often considered the standard closet shelf depth for storing folded clothing, shoes, and small containers. However, if you plan to store bulky items such as blankets, baskets, or cleaning supplies, you may want to go deeper. For specialized layouts, an adjustable system can give you more flexibility.
