"We love our cabinets! They look fantastic while remaining affordable. The friendly staff at AWD helped us from start to finish. They are very knowledgeable and gave us advice and tips when needed. They were receptive and patient with our ever-changing needs. Once we finalized our purchase, we received our cabinets within two weeks! The cabinets are very sturdy and the color is beautiful. The hinges and hardware are high quality. We are extremely pleased with AWD and would recommend them to any friends or family looking for good cabinets at a fair price."

"I was hesitant to leave them alone in rooms when I couldn't directly supervise them.  There was just a vibe I got.  They did what I asked them to for the most part, but I think, I just overwhelmed her with the amount of things I asked her to do.  A couple of things was forgotten, but I really asked a lot of them.  On the other hand, the entire time they were here, she gave me 8 hours of hard work.  She was a little late, but she notified me that she's going to be late."

"Cleaners were absolutely AMAZING.  Two cleaners, worked incredibly hard the entire time.  Left the house ready to show to prospective house-hunters.  Cannot speak highly enough of the cleaners that were assigned to the project.

HOWEVER, cannot possibly express how difficult the owner was to do business with!  I emailed back and forth 7 times (have copies of each) to ensure the job I wanted done could be done with the offer chosen.  Was told everything would work.  When the poor cleaners got there, they didn't have any of the tools that would be needed - nothing to high dust my vaulted ceilings, no shop-vac, nothing to scrub walls and outlets.  Cleaners said they didn't have personally, and owner did not provide.  When I called to ask owner if he could run the tools to them, he SCREAMED at the cleaners (and made them cry).  I ended up giving them tools to make do.

Owner then proceeded to call me and yell at ME!  I put him on speaker phone so my realtor, the cleaners, and others helping could hear him rant and rave about how much of a problem I was.  Incredibly rude and condescending.

I would like to highly recommend the cleaners, but am hopeful they have found a much better place to work by now!  Wish I would have recording his ranting so I could use as an example to my vendors of how not to treat a client.

Closets questions, answered by experts

Yes, 12-inch shelves are often considered the standard closet shelf depth for storing folded clothing, shoes, and small containers. However, if you plan to store bulky items such as blankets, baskets, or cleaning supplies, you may want to go deeper. For specialized layouts, an adjustable system can give you more flexibility.

If you’re on a tight budget, the least expensive material you can buy for DIY closet shelves is chipboard, a.k.a. particle board. This inexpensive material is made from a pulp of sawdust, resin, and glue that’s pressed together under high temperature and pressure. As you can imagine, it’s not very sturdy and might buckle under your blue jean collection, so you should only use it if you’re storing very light items.

The vertical space between closet shelves depends on what you're storing. For clothing like shirts and sweaters, 10 to 12 inches is enough. Towels and linens need 12 to 15 inches, while tall storage bins may require 18 inches or more. Overcrowding your shelves can reduce accessibility and increase clutter, so be sure to leave breathing room for your items.

The time it takes to build a closet varies widely depending on the project's size, complexity, and level of customization. On average, construction can take anywhere from a few days to two weeks.

A simple reach-in closet might be completed in less than a day, while a more complex walk-in closet could take one to two days or more. A typical project often falls in the 2-to-5-day range. However, a large, highly customized walk-in closet that requires structural changes, like moving a load-bearing wall, will take significantly longer.

A professional contractor can provide the most accurate time estimate for your specific project. If you are planning a DIY build, it is best to budget additional time.

Hanging and folding clothes are efficient ways to pack your clothes during a move. When choosing a packing method, consider the type of clothing you’re packing. For example, clothing such as dresses, suits, blouses, and items made of silk and similar fabrics are ideal for hangers. On the other hand, it’s easier to fold pants, shorts, t-shirts, thick sweaters, and more.
