"The work was well done. If weather or other situations came up, we were called and kept informed. Micheal and his crew were very pleasant to work with. The construction site was cleaned up promptly upon completion of the work."

"Had some troubles with scheduling a time for the actual sub contractor to come and do the work. Subcontractor mentioned owner would only let them stay one day and so had to mud and sand in one day. Work was good for time allowed but not the greatest mud job."

"Outstanding quality of workmanship down to every little detail. Did an amazing job remodeling our home. In fact we loved the work so much we also had pablo remodel our office space doing everything from completely gutting the interior and had them frame up 4 office spaces all the way down to the fine finishes. They worked super fast and did an amazing job. You name it pablo and his team can do it. Framing, drywall, painting, tile, hardwood floors, kitchen cabinets, countertops, installed new windows, siding and will be hiring them again in the spring to do my roof. Extremely friendly and did a great job cleaning up and couldnt be happier with the work they did especially for the price. We had estimates from 4 or 5 other contractors but Pablo's communication and expertise on everything we wanted to have done made us choose them over anyone else's. Couldnt be more proud of the work they have done for us and will be using prime time exteriors for anything we do in the future. A+++ couldnt say enouogh great things about this company and the people who came to do the work. Top notch contractor and extremely pleasant to work with."

"SMS Construction hauled away my old crappy deck and and replaced it with a brand new cedar deck. This was a full service job done to perfection by SMS.  The materials arrived right on time, as did the dumpster to remove the remains of the old deck.  The crew worked very efficiently and did not leave a mess. Some rotten sheathing was discovered under the old ledger board and Scott sent me pictures from his phone which I immediately reviewed and authorized some additional work.  Additional cost for that was minimal and fair.  Final product is very good looking and I can tell that no corners were cut. Over-all a very good value and a carefree experience.

"I am beyond impressed with Anthony and his company. I've had self-employed contractors with chips on their shoulders come and go as they please, not show up when they are supposed to, do incomplete work, etc. Anthony was ALWAYS here when he said he would be, which created more trust in what he said he could do and he actually listened to what I said and treated me with respect (as a woman, huge for me!). He helped make work what I wanted to have done and the work was QUALITY work. No corners were cut, if anything, he went above and beyond. You can truly see the pride in his work. My basement was move-in ready when finished...nothing to clean or pick up. Now, I have more living space and increased value to my home. I couldn't recommend this company highly enough. Just SO impressed."

"The workmanship is excellent. We couldn’t be happier with how the windows and doors look and open and close with no problems. And the metal wrapping on the exterior just makes the house look so much better. Mr. Coffer explained everything he was doing (as I’m one of those hovering clients that likes to see how things are done) and when he was all done walked me around every window and door to make sure I was pleased with the workmanship. Great company to work with and as my wife & I are looking at future project to do to our home, it’s a good feeling knowing we have a reliable and great contractor we can trust."

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Bump-out additions can extend anywhere from 2 to 15 feet from an existing room. The right size will depend on how you plan to use the new space. For a cantilever bump-out, which doesn't require additional foundation support, the limit is typically 24 inches (2 feet). If a footing and foundation are part of the project, a bump-out can be much larger, even encompassing a whole room. It's also important to remember that many residential properties have limits on the total house size relative to the lot size.

It’s best to use two screws to secure deck boards into every joist. Securing the boards to every joist makes the deck more structurally sound, while using two screws on the outer sides of the boards can help prevent warping and cupping.

Building a barndominium means converting a barn into a house. Barndominiums are becoming popular as spacious and stylish alternatives to typical housing structures. Old barns that become houses traditionally consist of wooden construction. However, newer structures, such as pole barns, often contain metal exteriors and roofs. Converting a metal outbuilding into a house presents an excellent opportunity to create a barndominium from metal.

For a professional carpenter, installing a window seat can take anywhere from a few hours to a few days, depending on some aspects of the project. Aside from building the seat itself, if they have to remove any cabinets, shelves, or baseboards, that will add time to the project.

It’s sometimes safe to replace a load-bearing wall with a beam, but you need a structural engineer to sign off on the project. You’ll also likely have to upgrade to a steel I-beam or another material that’s stronger than wood to maintain the level of support you need without the wall underneath.
