They took care of a drywall+door installation and a bathroom fan replacement. Among the 4 contractors we contacted for this, they were the only ones showing up in person to provide a quote. No, rough-in plumbing is one of the last steps before your drywall goes up. This is because essential things like pipe installation require space before other elements go up. After the rough-in plumbing is complete, your inspector will also come to conduct an examination and tell you if your plumbing is approved and satisfies your building permit.

Installing drywall will cost between $1.50 and $3 per square foot for materials, labor, and finishing, which is quite a bit lower than the average of $9 to $13 per square foot for a drop-tile ceiling. So, while drop ceilings allow more design flexibility, provide easy access to utility lines above them, and are often much easier and less expensive to repair, they do cost more upfront. You can minimize your drop ceiling cost by opting for more affordable fiberboard panels, although some homeowners don’t like the look of this material.

Many homeowners choose to install tongue and groove over drywall. The great thing about this type of ceiling is that it hides imperfections. If your drywall is a little bit wonky or has some minor damage, the tongue and groove planks should cover it and give it an even appearance. Installation is simplest if you install battens over the existing framing before installing your tongue and groove planks.

The easiest way to cut holes in drywall for electrical boxes is to use a spiral saw with a drywall router bit. Hang the drywall without cutting out a hole for the box, but make sure you measure and mark where the box is located on the wall. One of the main issues with hanging drywall on your ceiling is getting it into place. Drywall isn’t light so, if you are hanging full drywall panels, you will need at least two (it’s better with more) people to hold the panel while you drill it into the ceiling as a single piece can weigh between 40 and 60 pounds and will need to be held in place for up to 10 minutes.
