Customers say: True professional

"No category on here for chimneys, but we hired Absolute Masonry to work on the two chimneys on our 1887 Queen Anne Victorian in Minneapolis. Our roofline is very high and lots of difficult peaks and valleys. They rebuilt one chimney and took down one chimney to the roof line and then re-roofed over that spot. Jason reached out two days prior to the scheduled start date and let us know they could start a day early if we'd like. Great communication with Jason and his team throughout the project. Very professional. The finished project exceeded our expectations. After not raining all summer, it rained every day they were here and they still got the job done early. Exceptional value and quality. Even the cleanup after the job was done was very thorough. We ABSOLUTELY recommend Absolute Masonry and wouldn't hesitate to hire them again!"

"I had Chimney Sweep Pros come out to clean our dryer vent, and I?m so glad I chose them! They were punctual, professional, and did a very thorough job. They showed me the buildup that had been causing longer drying times and explained how important it is for preventing fire hazards ? something I hadn?t even realized. Not only is my dryer working better than ever, but I also feel much safer knowing everything is cleaned properly. The technician was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the whole process easy and stress-free. Highly recommend Chimney Sweep Pros for anyone needing dryer vent maintenance ? truly top-notch service."

"Very well, it was a complicated installation with the existing fireplace having to be cut out with a torch and with both natural gas and electric lines run to the fireplace. Everything got done on time and looks exactly as advertised despite the additional subcontractors required to do the job."

Fireplaces questions, answered by experts

A hot fire alone will not remove significant creosote buildup and can be dangerous, as it risks causing a chimney fire. While the warmth from a fire can help loosen stuck tar, making treatments like creosote logs more effective, it is not a substitute for proper cleaning. For existing creosote, the safest and most effective method is to have your chimney professionally cleaned by a chimney sweep.

A fireplace hearth is a fireproof flooring material that extends out from the base of the fireplace and into the room. Hearths can be made of brick, ceramic, marble, limestone, and more. A hearth serves the purpose of decreasing the fire risk in the area directly around the fireplace. If flying embers hit carpet or wood, they’ll spark and create a fire. But if they hit something like tile or granite, they’ll simply go out.

Yes, a chimney cap is an excellent idea for several reasons. It prevents debris, rain, or snow from entering your chimney, which can cause moisture damage or blockages. A cap with a mesh screen also keeps animals like birds, squirrels, and bats from nesting in your chimney—or worse, getting into your abode. Additionally, chimney caps help prevent downdrafts, which can push smoke and harmful gases back into your home. Lastly, by installing a chimney cap, you will improve safety and enhance the overall efficiency of your fireplace.

Pellet stoves are used as heat sources for homes. They work by burning biomass pallets, which might be composed of wood, sawdust, or food waste. The pellets are stored in the stove's hopper until the stove is ignited, at which point some are released into the stove's firebox to burn for heat. Unlike most fireplaces, pellet stoves have a thermostat that adjusts the temperature by releasing more or fewer pellets, depending on how warm you want to make your living space.

The cost difference between a gas fireplace and a wood-burning fireplace depends on the type of wood-burning fireplace installed. The cost to install a gas fireplace tends to be cheaper than the cost to install a brick wood-burning fireplace. Installing a gas fireplace costs about $3,600 on average, whereas the cost to build a masonry wood-burning fireplace can go up to $30,000. The cost to install a wood-burning fireplace insert or stove can cost from $700 to $6,500, about the same as a gas fireplace on average.
